CPFL Energia S.A., incorporated on March 20, 1998, is a holding company. The Company, through its subsidiaries, distributes, generates, transmits and commercializes electricity in Brazil, as well as provides energy-related services. The Company's segments include Distribution, Conventional Generation Sources, Renewable Energy Generation, Commercialization and Services. The Company has operation in the States of Sao Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Parana and Minas Gerais, and various industrial centers in Brazil.
The Company operates its distribution segment through its eight distributors. It comprises the activities of its subsidiaries, including cpfl paulista, cpfl piratiniga, RGE, RGE/Sul, cpfl santa cruz, cpfl leste paulista, cpfl sul paulista and cpfl mococa. The Company, through its distributors, serves over 560 municipalities.
The Company's installed capacity in conventional generation is approximately 2,200 megawatt (MW). The Company, through its subsidiary CPFL Geracao, holds equity interests in eight Hydroelectric Power Plants: Serra da Mesa, Monte Claro, Barra Grande, Campos Novos, Luiz Eduardo Magalhaes Lajeado, Castro Alves, 14 de Julho and Foz do Chapeco. CPFL Geracao also owns two Thermoelectric Power Plants: Termonordeste and Termoparaíba (EPASA). Its subdiaries, CPFL Geracao and CPFL Centrais Geradoras, manage approximately 10 Small Hydroelectric Power Plants (SHPPs).
The Company operates in the segment of generation of energy of renewable sources, such as wind, biomass thermal plants, SHPPs and solar, through its subsidiary, CPFL Renovaveis. The Company's installed capacity in the renewable generation segment is over 930 MW, and approximately 330 MW of capacity is under construction.
The Company operates in the segment of commercialization (power competitive supply) through its subsidiary, CPFL Brasil. It sells power nationwide.
The Company operates in the segment of value-added services providing electricity-related services, such as project design and construction, to affiliates and unaffiliated parties. The segment includes the activities of its subsidiaries, including CPFL Servicos, CPFL Atende, CPFL Eficiencia, CPFL Total, Nect Servicos, Authi and CPFL Telecom.
