Camping World Holdings, Inc., incorporated on May 19, 1988, is a provider of a portfolio of services, protection plans, products and resources for recreational vehicle (RV) enthusiasts. The Company operates through two segments: Consumer Services and Plans, and Retail. Within the Consumer Services and Plans segment, the Company derives revenue from the sale of the offerings, including emergency roadside assistance; property and casualty insurance programs; travel assist programs; extended vehicle service contracts; co branded credit cards; vehicle financing and refinancing; club memberships, and publications and directories. Within the Retail segment, it derives revenue from the sale of the products, including new vehicles; used vehicles; parts and service, including RV accessories and supplies, and finance and insurance.
The Company provides its offerings through its two brands: Good Sam and Camping World. Its Good Sam branded offerings provide a range of services, protection plans, products and resources, including extended vehicle service contracts and insurance protection plans, roadside assistance, membership clubs and financing products. It offers extended vehicle service contracts, emergency roadside assistance, property and casualty insurance programs and membership clubs. Its Camping World brand operates a network of RV centric retail locations in the United States through its 125 retail locations in 36 states, as of May 25, 2017, and through its e-commerce platforms. It provides new and used RVs, repair parts, RV accessories and supplies, RV repair and maintenance services, protection plans, travel assistance plans, RV financing, and lifestyle products and services for new and existing RV owners.
The Company offers a mechanical breakdown insurance program developed and offered for the members of the Good Sam Club and underwritten and insured by QBE Europe Insurance Ltd (QBE). The contracts cover the cost of parts, labor and repairs to motorized and towable RVs, as well as autos, pick-up trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs). The contracts ensure the members will have continuous protection during the life of the contracts. It offers roadside assistance for RVs, autos and motorcycles. Its roadside assistance services include towing, jump start, tire change, mobile mechanic and other services. It provides third-party auto, RV, motorcycle and boat specialty insurance and home insurance. As of December 31, 2016, it operated two membership clubs: The Good Sam Club and the Coast to Coast Club. It Good Sam Club is the RV organization. The Coast to Coast Club provides access to, and savings at, private membership campgrounds and other travel related benefits.
The Company markets third-party financing and refinancing solutions for new and used RVs and boats. The Company contracts with On Call International to offer travel protection plans through Good Sam TravelAssist, where On Call International primarily assumes the underwriting risk. The plans provide around the clock coverage for medical assistance and care, medical evacuation, emergency travel services, emergency dental care and return- home services. It contracts with Visa and Comenity Capital Bank to offer a Good SamaCamping World Visa branded credit card. Cardholders receive rewards points, which are referred to as REC rewards, for money spent at its retail locations, on its e-commerce platforms and at private campgrounds across the United States and Canada.
The Company offers a range of selection of new RVs across a range of price points, classes and floor plans, from entry level travel trailers to Class A diesel pushers, at its retail locations and on its e-commerce platform. The primary source of used RVs is through trade-ins at the time of the sale of new and used RVs. Used RVs are generally reconditioned in its service departments prior to sale. For the year ended December 31, 2016, it had sold approximately 48,700 new and 31,200 used vehicles at its retail locations and through its e-commerce platforms. The Company offered repair and maintenance services at its 122 retail locations nationwide, as of December 31, 2016 and performed warranty repairs for RVs. With over 1,300 RV technicians, it is equipped to offer repair and maintenance services for most RV components.
The Company's full-service repair facilities enable the Company to install all parts and accessories that it sells in its retail locations, including, towing and hitching products, satellite systems, braking systems, leveling systems and appliances. It offers collision repair services at most of its service centers, and over 34% of its service facilities are equipped with full body paint booths. Its facilities are equipped to offer a selection of collision repair services, including fiberglass front and rear cap replacement, windshield replacement, interior remodel solutions and paint work. It performs collision repair services for an array of insurance carriers. Through its retail stores and e-commerce platform, it offers a range of original and aftermarket RV parts, accessories and supplies, including towing and hitching, satellite and global positioning system (GPS) systems, appliances and furniture, leveling systems, breaking systems, generators and electrical products, supplies and other products necessary or desirable for the RV enthusiast and RV lifestyle.
