Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) is a surround sound audio technology that enables the Dolby Audio experience across home theaters, smartphones, operating systems and browsers. DD+ and HE-AAC are used in terrestrial broadcast across various countries, including France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Turkey and Russia. In addition, DD+ and HE-AAC are included in the digital terrestrial television specifications of emerging digital television markets in Africa, South-East Asia and India while China has selected Dolby Digital (DD) and DD+ as optional technologies for the country's digital terrestrial television specification. DD is mandated for HD broadcast in multiple regions, including North America and South Korea, and for DVD players on a global basis. AC-4 is the next audio technology that is in the process.
