Generac Holdings Inc. (Generac) is a designer and manufacturer of a range of generators and other engine powered products for the residential, light commercial, industrial and construction markets. The Company designs, manufactures, sources and modifies engines, alternators, automatic transfer switches and other components necessary for its products. Its products are fueled by natural gas, liquid propane, gasoline, diesel and Bi-Fuel and are available through a range of network of independent dealers, retailers, wholesalers and equipment rental companies. It distribute its products through independent residential and industrial dealers, electrical wholesalers, national accounts, private label arrangements, retailers, catalogs, e-commerce merchants, equipment rental companies, equipment dealers and construction companies. The Company designs, engineers and manufactures generators with an output of between 800 watts and nine megawatts of power, as well as other engine powered products, such as light towers, pumps and power washers. The Company designs, manufactures, sources and modifies engines, alternators, transfer switches and other components necessary to its products. The Company’s products include residential power products; industrial and commercial power products and other products. Its products serve the power requirements of a variety of end markets, including the residential, commercial, industrial and telecommunications markets. In July 2013, Generac Holdings Inc announced the closing of the purchase agreement to acquire the equity of Tower Light Srl and its wholly owned subsidiaries.
Residential Power Products
The Company’s automatic residential standby generators range in output from 6 Kilowatts to 60 Kilowatts. The Company’s residential standby generators powered by air-cooled engines range in outputs from 6 Kilowatts to 20 Kilowatts and are available in steel and aluminum enclosures. Its generators powered by liquid-cooled engines range in outputs from 20 kilowatt to 60 kilowatt, including the Guardian Series and the Quietsource Series, with a quiet, low-speed engine and a standard aluminum enclosure.
Generac provides portable generators fuelled by gasoline that range in size from 800 watts to 17,500 watts. The Company has four portable product lines: the GP series, targeted at homeowners, ranging from 1,850 watts to 17,500 watts; the XG series, targeted at the homeowner markets, ranging from 4,000 to 10,000 watts; the XP series, targeted at the professional contractor market, ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 watts, and the iX series, targeted at the recreational market, ranging from 800 watts to 2,000 watts.
Industrial and Commercial Power Products
The Company’s light-commercial standby generators include a full range of generators from 22 kilowatt to 150 kilowatt and related transfer switches, providing three-phase power that is sufficient for most small and mid-sized businesses, including grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants, gas stations, pharmacies, retail banks and small health care facilities. Generac manufactures a range of standard and configured standby generators and related transfer switches for industrial applications. Its single-engine industrial generators range in output from 10 kilowatt to 600 kilowatt with its modular power system (MPS) technology extending its product range up to 9 megawatts. The Company offers four fuel options, including diesel, natural gas, liquid propane or Bi-Fuel. It provides the telecommunications market range of generator systems, ranging from 20 kilowatt air-cooled generators to 3 milliwatts MPS.
Other Power Products
The Company’s RV generators range in size from 3.4 kilowatts to 8.5 kilowatts and are available in gasoline, liquid propane or diesel fuel models. These generators are sold directly to original equipment manufacturers, as well as aftermarket dealers. Generac also sells its air-cooled engines to third-party equipment OEMs and sells after-market generator service parts to its dealers.
The Company competes with Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, MTU, Briggs & Stratton, Honda and Techtronics International.
