The Macerich Company, incorporated on September 9, 1993, is a self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company is engaged in the acquisition, ownership, development, redevelopment, management and leasing of regional and community/power shopping centers located throughout the United States. The Company is the sole general partner of, and owns a majority of the ownership interests in, The Macerich Partnership, L.P. (the Operating Partnership).
As of June 30, 2015, the Company, through its partnership and ownership interests in the Operating Partnership, owned or had an ownership interest in 51 regional shopping centers and eight community/power shopping centers. These 59 regional and community/power shopping centers consist of approximately 55 million square feet of gross leasable area (GLA). As of December 31, 2014, the centers primarily included 194 Anchors totaling approximately 27.6 million square feet of GLA, and approximately 6,000 Mall Stores and Freestanding Stores totaling approximately 24.9 million square feet of GLA.
The Company principally focuses on regional shopping centers. The Company’s properties include Arrowhead Towne Center, Danbury Fair Mall, Flagstaff Mall, Green Acres Mall, Kings Plaza Shopping Center, Los Cerritos Center, Pacific View, Santa Monica Place, Stonewood Center, Towne Mall, Valley Mall, Valley River Center, Washington Square and Westside Pavilion.
