Profile: Nuveen Insured Municipal Opportunity Fund, Inc (NIO)

Nuveen Insured Municipal Opportunity Fund, Inc. (the Fund) is a diversified closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to provide current income exempt from regular federal income tax, by investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of municipal obligations issued by state and local government authorities or certain United States territories. The Fund invests only in municipal securities, which are either covered by insurance or are backed by an escrow or trust account containing sufficient United States Government or the United States Government agency securities, both of which ensure the timely payment of principal and interest.

The Fund is authorized to invest in inverse floating-rate securities and certain derivative financial instruments. It invests in sectors, such as transportation, utilities, healthcare, water and sewer, and other sectors. Nuveen Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nuveen Investments, Inc., serves as the Fund’s investment advisor.
