China Nepstar Chain Drugstore Ltd. (China Nepstar), incorporated on August 20, 2004, is a retail drugstore chain in China, with a network of 2,066 directly operated drugstores spanning 77 cities across 14 provinces and direct-controlled municipalities in China as of December 31, 2013. The Company provides its customers with pharmacy services and a variety of other merchandise, including over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, nutritional supplements, herbal products, personal care products, family care products, as well as convenience products including consumable, seasonal and promotional items. It also offers private label products. The Company also operates an Internet website, www.star365.com, where online shoppers can purchase over-the-counter drugs, nutritional supplements, herbal products, personal care products, reproductive health products and household convenience products, among other products.
The Company offers approximately 2,883 prescription drugs. It accepts prescriptions only from licensed health care providers and do not prescribe medications or otherwise practice medicine. Its in-store pharmacists verify the validity, accuracy and completeness of all prescription drug orders. It requests that all prescription drug customers provide them with information regarding drug allergies, current medical conditions and current medications. Its in-store pharmacists also perform a drug utilization review in which they cross-check every prescription against the customer’s submitted information for drug, disease and allergy interactions. Sales of prescription drugs accounted for 22.3% of its revenue in 2013.
The Company offers approximately 2,996 over-the-counter drugs, including western medicines and traditional Chinese medicines, for the treatment of common diseases. Sales of over-the-counter drugs accounted for 39.2% of its revenue in 2013.
The Company offers approximately 523 nutritional supplements, including a variety of healthcare supplements, vitamins, minerals and dietary products. Sales of nutritional supplements accounted for 14.5% of its revenue in 2013.
The Company offers various types of drinkable herbal remedies and packages of assorted herbs for making soup. The Company's Herbal Products are used by consumers as health supplements. Sales of herbal products accounted for 4.1% of its revenue in 2013.
The Company’s other products include personal care products such as skin care, hair care and beauty products, family care products such as portable medical devices for family use, birth control and early pregnancy test products, and convenience products, including soft drinks, packaged snacks, cleaning agents and stationery. Its other products also include seasonal and promotional items tailored to local consumer demand. Its product offerings also include general merchandise and consumables, primarily in the following categories: convenience foods, produce, household cleaning and laundry products, and mother and baby products.
