Profile: PowerShares Exchange-Traded Fund Trust: PowerShares Dynamic Biotechnology & Genome Portfolio (PBE.P)

PowerShares Dynamic Biotechnology & Genome Portfolio (the Fund) seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield of an equity index called the Dynamic Biotechnology & Genome Intellidex Index (the Underlying Intellidex). The Underlying Intellidex consists of stocks of 30 United States biotechnology and genome companies. These are companies that are principally engaged in the research, development, manufacture and marketing and distribution of various biotechnological products, services and processes, and companies that benefit significantly from scientific and technological advances in biotechnology and genetic engineering and research. These companies may include companies involved in the research, development or production of pharmaceuticals, including veterinary drugs. Stocks are selected principally on the basis of their capital appreciation potential as identified by the AMEX (the Intellidex Provider) pursuant to its Intellidex methodology. The Fund’s investment advisor is PowerShares Capital Management LLC.

The Underlying Intellidex is adjusted quarterly, and the Fund, using an indexing investment approach, attempts to replicate the performance of the Underlying Intellidex. The Fund generally will invest in all of the stocks comprising the Underlying Intellidex in proportion to their weightings in the Underlying Intellidex. The Fund will normally invest at least 80% of its total assets in common stocks of biotechnology companies and genome companies. The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its total assets in common stocks that comprise the Underlying Intellidex.
