Satyam Computer Services Limited (Satyam), incorporated on June 24, 1987, is a global information technology (IT) services provider, offering a range of services, including systems design, software development, system integration and application maintenance. Satyam offers a range of IT services to its customers, including application development and maintenance, consulting and enterprise business solutions, extended engineering solutions and infrastructure management services. Satyam BPO Limited (Satyam BPO), a majority-owned subsidiary of the Company is engaged in providing business process outsourcing (BPO) services. Satyam operates in two segments: IT services and BPO services. In November 2008, it announced the take over of Motorola Inc.’s software development centre in Malaysia. As of July 6, 2009, Tech Mahindra Limited had acquired approximately 31.04% of the Company’s outstanding shares of common stock.

On January 4, 2008, the Company acquired Nitor global Solutions Ltd, which is specialized in the infrastructure management services space. On April 4, 2008, it acquired Bridge Strategy Group LLC, which is a strategy and general management consulting firm. The Company provides services to customers from various industries, including manufacturing, banking and financial services, insurance, telecommunications, infrastructure media and entertainment, semiconductors (TIMES), healthcare, retail, transportation, life sciences, oil and gas and Utilities. As of March 31, 2008, it had 654 active customers, including 185 Fortune Global 500 or Fortune United States 500 companies.

The Company’s e-business services include designing, developing, integrating and maintaining Internet-based applications, such as e-commerce Websites, and implementing packaged software applications, such as customer or supply chain management software application. Satyam also assists its customers in making theirs computing systems accessible over the Internet. Its BPO services include providing of services covering human resources, finance and accounting, customer contact (voice, mail and chat), and transaction processing (industry-specific offerings).

The Company designs, develops and implements customized IT solutions software for a variety of business processes and requirements. Satyam's solution implementations range from single-platform, single-site systems to multi-platform, multiple-site systems. A project may involve the development of a new application, customizing packaged software, enhancing the capabilities of existing software applications, upgrading a legacy solution both to suit the newer technology environments and to enhance the lifetime of such applications. Each development project typically involves the full life cycle of software development, including definition, prototyping, architecting, designing, piloting, programming, testing, installing and subsequent maintenance.

Satyam provides maintenance services for large software systems, including modifications and enhancements to the business functionality, as well as providing production support to facilitate around-the-clock availability of applications spread across multiple geographies encompassing diverse technologies. The Company assists customers in migration or re-hosting to new technologies, such as Microsoft and Open systems, to extend the useful life of existing systems. Satyam performs most of the maintenance work at its offshore global development centers using satellite links to its customers' systems. In addition, the Company maintains a small team on its customers' premises to coordinate support functions.

Satyam offers a portfolio of consulting and enterprise business solutions through its alliances with independent software vendors, such as Oracle, SAP and Informatica.
