Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc., incorporated on June 28, 1919, and its subsidiaries, are engaged in the manufacture and sale of confectionery products. The Company operates through manufacture and sale of confectionery products segment. The confectionery products are distributed through approximately 30 candy and grocery brokers and by the Company itself to over 4,000 customers across the United States. The Company's customers include wholesale distributors of candy and groceries, supermarkets, variety stores, dollar stores, chain grocers, drug chains, discount chains, cooperative grocery associations, mass merchandise, warehouse and membership club stores, vending machine operators, the United States military and fund-raising charitable organizations. The Company's principal markets are in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Company sells its products under the brand names TOOTSIE ROLL, TOOTSIE POPS, CHILD'S PLAY, CARAMEL APPLE POPS, CHARMS, BLOW-POP, CHARMS MINI POPS, CELLA'S, DOTS, JUNIOR MINTS, CHARLESTON CHEW, SUGAR DADDY, SUGAR BABIES, ANDES, FLUFFY STUFF, DUBBLE BUBBLE, RAZZLES, CRY BABY, NIK-L-NIP and TUTSI POP (Mexico). The majority of production from the Company's Canadian plants is sold in the United States. The majority of production from the Company's Mexican plant is sold in Mexico. The Company owns its principal manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, and offices facilities, which are located in Chicago, Illinois in a building consisting of approximately 2,354,000 square feet. In addition, the Company leases manufacturing and warehousing facilities at a second location in Chicago, which comprises 137,000 square feet.
