Giordano International Limited is an investment holding company. Through its subsidiaries, the Company distributes and sells casual apparel under the brand names of Giordano, Giordano Concepts, Giordano Ladies, Giordano Junior and Bluestar Exchange/BSX through a retailing network with over 1,800 shops spanning over 20 countries. It also engages in garment trading and manufacturing. During the year ended December 31, 2008, it added 89 stores in Mainland China to expand its distribution network to 909 outlets. On June 2, 2008, the Company reduced its interest in Speedy Garment Manufacturing (Hong Kong) Company Limited, its garment manufacturing joint venture, from 49% to 9.9%. On August 25, 2008, it substantially divested its 51% interest in Placita Holdings Limited, its principal garment manufacturing subsidiary and the principal business unit of its Garment Trading & Manufacturing Division. As a result, the Company substantially exited from the garment manufacturing line of business.
