Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. is a Japan-based company principally engaged in the steel, engineering and electronic businesses. The Company has four business segments. The Steel segment provides steel plates, construction materials, steel tubes, steel bars, rail vehicle products, cast and forged steel products, semi-finished steel products and others. This segment is also involved in the provision of iron making technique, marine and land transportation services for steel, as well as maintenance services for equipment. The Engineering segment offers bridges and civil construction products. The Electronic segment provides electronic components and others. The Others segment is involved in the leasing and sale of real estate, as well as the experiment and analysis businesses. On December 1, 2009, the Company sold its wholly owned subsidiary Sumikin Molycorp, Inc.
