Astronics Corporation, incorporated on December 5, 1968, is a supplier of products to the aerospace and defense industries. Its products include advanced, high-performance lighting and safety systems, electrical power generation and distribution systems, aircraft structures, avionics products and other products for the global aerospace industry as well as test, training and simulation systems primarily for the military. As of December 31, 2013, the Company had 12 primary locations: 10 in the United States, one in Canada, and one in France. The Company designs and builds its products through its wholly owned subsidiaries Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems Corp. (AES); Astronics AeroSat Corporation (AeroSat); Ballard Technology, Inc. (Ballard); DME Corporation (DME); Luminescent Systems, Inc. (LSI); Luminescent Systems Canada, Inc. (LSI Canada); Max-Viz, Inc. (Max-Viz); Peco, Inc. (Peco) PGA Electronic s.a. (PGA) and Astronics Test Systems, Inc. It has two reportable segments, Aerospace and Test Systems.
Aerospace segment designs and manufactures products for the global aerospace industry. Its product lines include lighting and safety systems, electrical power generation, distribution and motions systems, aircraft structures, avionics products and other products. Its Aerospace customers are the airframe manufacturers (OEM’s) that build aircraft for the commercial, military and general aviation markets, suppliers to those OEM’s, aircraft operators such as airlines and branches of the United States Department of Defense, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration and airport operators. It has 10 principal operating facilities located in New York State, Florida, two in New Hampshire, two in Oregon, two in Washington State, Quebec, Canada and Montierchaume, France. Its products are Cabin Electronics, Airframe Power and PGA Seat Motion Products, Aircraft Lighting and Peco Safety Products, Avionics, AeroSat Satellite Antenna Products, Airfield Lighting, and Other Peco Products.
Test Systems segment designs, develops, manufactures and maintains automatic test systems that support the semiconductor, aerospace, communications and weapons test systems as well as training and simulation devices for both commercial and military applications. In the Test Systems Segment, Astronics’ products are sold to a global customer base including OEMs and prime government contractors for both consumer electronics and military products. It has facilities located in Florida and California.
