AuRico Gold Inc., incorporated on February 17, 1998, is a Canada-based gold producer with mines and projects in North America. The Company and its subsidiaries are engaged in the mining, development, exploration, and acquisition of resource properties. Its core operations include the Young-Davidson gold mine in northern Ontario and the El Chanate mine in Sonora State, Mexico. Its project pipeline also includes advanced development opportunities in Mexico and British Columbia.
The Young-Davidson gold mine is located near the town of Matachewan, approximately 60 kilometers west of Kirkland Lake in Northern Ontario. The property consists of contiguous mineral leases and claims totaling 11,000 acres. The Young-Davidson is situated within the southwestern part of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
Acquired in April 2011, AuRico Gold’s El Chanate Mine is located 37 kilometers northeast of Caborca in Sonora State, Mexico. The Mine consists of an open pit, crusher, heap leach pads, process plant located on 3,665 hectares encompassed within 19 mineral concessions. The open-pit mine plan covers an area approximately 1,700 meters long, 780 meters wide, and 280 meters deep.
