Artis Real Estate Investment Trust (Artis) is an open-end real estate investment trust. The Company invests in commercial (retail, office and industrial) properties in Canada and the United States. As of December 31, 2011, its portfolio was consisted of 163 properties located in Canada and the United States. During the year ended December 31, 2011, Artis acquired a total of 32 properties. On January 31, 2012, Artis acquired North 48 Commercial Complex. On February 24, 2012, Artis acquired the Aluma Systems Building, a 65,000 square foot industrial building in Edmonton, Alberta. On March 29, 2012, it acquired a new Class AA LEED Silver certified professional office building. In November 2012, it acquired industrial and retail properties in Canada and industrial properties in the United States. In December 2012, the Company acquired industrial and retail properties in Western Canada and in Ontario's Greater Toronto Area.
