Avalon Correctional Services, Inc. (Avalon), incorporated on September 14, 1990, is an owner and operator of halfway houses. The Company provides reintegration services for non-violent offenders serving the last six to nine months of their sentence. Avalon’s residential reintegration programs provide clients with reentry programs designed to return men and women to their communities. Clients leave halfway houses with better life management skills, long term employment and permanent housing.
Avalon owns and operates a central office support facility and 10 residential halfway houses located in Texas, Wyoming and Oklahoma. These facilities provide residential reentry services including residential work release and residential treatment programs to more than 3,000 clients daily. The Company owns and/or operates the following facilities, Carver Center, Carver Center-VA, Turley Center, Turley House, Avalon Center, El Paso MUF, El Paso Transitional, Austin Center, Austin Reentry Center, Corpus Christi Center, Dallas Center, Fort Worth Center and Cheyenne Center.
The Avalon residential treatment programs utilize in-house certified and licensed treatment teams for substance abuse and mental health treatment services, and individual and group counseling. The Company’s counseling and treatment programs include individual, group and family counseling; substance abuse education and counseling; anger management; vocational assessments; 90-day transitional programs; strategies for self-improvement and change; community living skills; women’s and men’s social skills; cognitive behavioral therapy; general educational and literacy assistance; employment readiness development; life skills education; HIV education; therapeutic treatment programs; family and parenting; and money management/budgeting/shopping.
Avalon provides a range of assessments that include ASUS (Adult Substance Use Survey), SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory) and DUI Assessments. Its additional assessments include the Standardized Offender Assessment Revised (SOA-R), Level of Supervision Inventory (LSI), Adult Substance Use Survey (ASUS), Simple Screening Instrument-Revised (SSI-R), Treatment Recommendation Worksheet (TxRW) and the State Mental Health Screen for Adults. Avalon’s treatment programs also provide Client Progress Staffing Meetings per week and Clinical Therapeutic Treatment program.
