Daimler AG (Daimler) is an automotive engineering company. The Company is engaged in the development, production and distribution of cars, trucks and vans in Germany, and the management of the Daimler Group. Daimler's segments include Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Daimler Buses and Daimler Financial Services. The Company has production facilities in approximately 20 countries and over 8,500 sales centers around the world.
The Mercedes-Benz Cars segment includes vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz brand, including the brands, Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach, as well as the Mercedes me brand. These vehicles range from various models of the A Class and B Class to a program of sport utility vehicles, roadsters, coupes and convertibles, and S-Class luxury sedans.
The Daimler Trucks segment develops and produces vehicles under the brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Western Star, FUSO and BharatBenz. Buses under the brands, Thomas Built Buses and FUSO, are also included in the Daimler Trucks segment. The Daimler Trucks segment has approximately 30 production facilities located in North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) region, Europe, Asia and South America. Its product range includes light, medium and heavy-duty trucks for local and long-distance deliveries and construction sites, as well as special vehicles used mainly in municipal applications.
The Mercedes-Benz Vans segment is a supplier of a range of vans and associated services. The vans of the Mercedes-Benz Vans segment are primarily sold under the brand names, including Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. Its product range for commercial vans includes the Sprinter large van, the Vito mid-size van (marketed as the Metris in the United States) and the Mercedes-Benz Citan urban delivery van. The range of vans in the private-customer segment consists of the V-Class multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), and the Marco Polo camper vans and recreational vehicles. It has manufacturing facilities in nine locations in Germany, Spain, the United States and Argentina, as well as in China within a joint venture, and in France and Russia.
The Daimler Buses segment sells completely built-up buses under various brand names, including MercedesBenz and Setra. In addition, the Daimler Buses segment produces and sells bus chassis. Its product range includes city and intercity buses, and coaches. It has over 10 production sites located in Germany, France, Spain, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, as well as in India.
Daimler Financial Services
The Daimler Financial Services segment supports the sales of the Company's automotive brands in approximately 40 countries around the world. Its product portfolio primarily includes financing and leasing packages for end customers and dealers, insurance brokering, fleet management services, investment products and credit cards, as well as various mobility services, such as moovel mobility platform, car2go flexible mobility concept and mytaxi application. The Daimler Financial Services segment provides fleet management in Europe through the Athlon brand. The primary areas of the Daimler Financial Services segment's activities are Western Europe and North America. It also holds interest in the Toll Collect consortium, which operates an electronic road-charging system for trucks on highways in Germany.
