Emulex Corporation (Emulex) is a provider of a range of storage networking infrastructure solutions that connect servers, storage and networks within the data center. The Company’s product portfolio includes host bus adapters (HBAs), converged network adapters (CNAs), mezzanine cards for blade servers, and embedded storage bridges, routers, switches and input/output controllers (IOCs). The Company’s host server products (HSP) include both fiber channel-based connectivity products and enhanced Ethernet-based products that support Internet protocol (IP) and storage networking, including transmission control protocol (TCP)/IP, Internet small computer system interface (iSCSI), network attached storage (NAS), IOC solutions, and fibre channel over Ethernet (FCoE). The Company’s fibre channel-based products include LightPulse, HBAs, custom form factor solutions for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) blade servers and application specific integrated circuits (ASIC). These products enable servers to connect to fibre channel storage area networks (SANs) by offloading data communication processing tasks from the server as information is delivered and sent to the storage network.

The Company's enhanced Ethernet-based products include OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs) that enable true network convergence. The Company’s Embedded Storage Products (ESP) includes its InSpeed, FibreSpy, switch-on-a-chip (SOC), bridge products and router products. The Company’s other category primarily consists of contract engineering services, legacy and other products. During the fiscal year ended June 29, 2009, most of its revenues were derived from products-based on fiber channel technology.

Host Server Products

The Company’s host server products include the development of chip level and board level server-based input/output (I/O) adapters, including HBAs and mezzanine cards, UCNAs, and pass-through modules (PTM) using technologies, such as fiber channel FCoE, iSCSI, TCP/IP, and Internet wide area remote direct memory access protocol (iWARP). The Company’s fiber channels HBAs, which are the majority of its product shipments, connect host computers to a fiber channel network. Its adapters support a range of operating systems and host computer system interfaces, including both peripheral components interconnect (PCI) and PCI express-based platforms.

The Company’s fiber channel HBA offerings include single, dual and quad port adapters at throughput speeds of eight gigabyte per second, four gigabyte per second, and two gigabyte per second for use in large, medium, and down to small sized organizations. Its PTM provides a bandwidth connection between the servers and the SAN for customers with an existing switch infrastructure. The Emulex OneConnect UCNA is a single chip, 10 gigabyte per second Ethernet platform. The Emulex UCNA platform enables data center managers to consolidate multiple one gigabyte Ethernet links on to a single 10gigabyte Ethernet link.

Embedded Storage Products

The Company’s embedded storage products include the development of chip level, board level, and box level array-based products that provide connectivity and protocol emulation functions. This includes embedded IOCs, I/O Processors (IOPs), SOCs, embedded bridges (FC/SATA/SAS) and embedded routers (FC/SATA/SAS). Emulex offers a portfolio of integrated, embedded storage networking products, providing customers a solution set for enterprise storage systems.

The Company competes with QLogic Corporation, Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., Broadcom Corporation, Intel Corporation, Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. and PMC-Sierra, Inc.
