Express, Inc., incorporated on June 10, 2008, is a specialty apparel and accessories retailer offering both women's and men's merchandise, targeting the 20 to 30 year old customer. The Company offers an assortment of fashionable apparel and accessories to address fashion needs across multiple aspects of lifestyles, including work, casual, jeans wear and going-out occasions. The Company operates one segment, which includes the operation of its brick-and-mortar retail and outlet stores, e-commerce operations and franchise operations. The Company sells its products through its e-commerce Website, www.express.com, and has franchise agreements with franchisees that operate Express locations in Latin America, the Middle East and South Africa.
As of January 31, 2015, the Company operated 641 stores across the United States, in Canada and in Puerto Rico, including 41 factory outlet stores. The Company designs its product assortment in its New York City design studio based on review and consideration of fashion trends, styles, fabrics, colors, fits and prices. The Company's products are created by its in-house design team. The Company has developed a portfolio of products that have brand value, including the Editor pant and 1MX shirt. The Company designs its products and displays them in its stores and online in a coordinated manner that allows its customers to purchase multi-item outfits as opposed to individual items. The Company develops four seasonal collections per year and then subdivides them so that new products are introduced more frequently in its stores, providing on-going freshness to the existing merchandise assortment.
The Company has approximately 285 manufacturing facilities located in approximately 20 countries throughout the world, primarily in Asia and South and Central America. The Company has a tender-agnostic customer loyalty program, Express NEXT, which offers customers the opportunity to earn rewards in conjunction with purchases of Express product and other engagement with the Express brand. The Company also offers a private-label credit card through an agreement with World Financial Network National Bank (WFNNB), under which WFNNB owns the credit card accounts, and Alliance Data Systems Corporation provides services to its private-label credit card customers.
