Fresnillo Plc is in the business is the mining and beneficiation of non-ferrous minerals, and the sale of related production. The primary contents of this production are silver, gold, lead and zinc. It has three fully developed operating mines: Fresnillo, Herradura and Cienega. The Fresnillo mine is a primary silver mine. The unit consists of an underground mining operation and a concentrator plant. Herradura is an open pit gold mine located in the State of Sonora and held through Minera Penmont, a joint venture with Newmont Mining Corporation, in which it has a 56% interest and is the operator of the mine. The Cienega gold mine is located in the northwest corner of the State of Durango. The unit consists of an underground mining operation and a concentrator plant. In December 2008, the Company, through its Penmont joint venture with Newmont, acquired the Noche Buena gold project in Sonora, Mexico, from Seabridge Gold Inc.
