Hanesbrands Inc., incorporated on October 30, 2005, is a manufacturer and marketer of apparels. The Company operates through four segments: Innerwear, Activewear, Direct to Consumer and International. The Company's portfolio of brands includes Hanes, Champion, Maidenform, DIM, Playtex, Bali, JMS/Just My Size, Nur Die/Nur Der, L'eggs, Lovable, Wonderbra, Flexees, Lilyette and Gear for Sports. Its Hanes brand offers various products, including men's, women's and children's underwear, bras, socks, T-shirts, fleece, shape wear and sheer hosiery. Its Champion brand offers athletic apparel, including sports bras, team uniforms, and gym essentials, such as T-shirts, mesh shorts and fleece hoodies.
The Company offers various products under Innerwear segment, which include intimate apparel, such as bras and shape wear; men's underwear; women's panties; children's underwear; socks, and hosiery. The Company offers intimate apparel under its brands, such as Hanes, Maidenform, Bali, Playtex, JMS/Just My Size, L'eggs, Wonderbra, Lilyette, Donna Karan and DKNY. The Company manufactures and markets men's underwear and children's underwear in the United States under its Hanes, Champion and Polo Ralph Lauren brands, and women's sheer hosiery under its L'eggs, Hanes, Maidenform, JMS/Just My Size, Donna Karan and DKNY brands. The Company also offers underwear, babywear and socks brand, Bonds, and sports bra brand Berlei.
The Activewear segment sells basic branded products that are primarily seasonal in nature under the product categories of branded printwear and retail activewear, as well as licensed logo apparel in collegiate bookstores, mass retail and other channels. The Company offers various products under Activewear segment, which include T-shirts, fleece, sport shirts, performance T-shirts and shorts, sports bras and thermals. It sells activewear products to both retailers and wholesalers. The Company offers activewear products through its brands, which include Champion, Hanes, JMS/Just My Size and Duofold. In addition to activewear for men and women, Champion provides uniforms for athletic programs and offers an apparel program, C9 by Champion. The Company licenses its Champion name for footwear and sports accessories. In its branded print wear category, the Company supplies its T-shirts, sport shirts and fleece products, including brands, such as Hanes, Champion and Hanes Beefy-T to customers and wholesalers. It also sells licensed logo apparel in the mass retail channel and in collegiate bookstores and other channels under its Gear for Sports and Champion brands. It sells licensed collegiate logo apparel in the mass retail channel under its Knights Apparel brand. It offers a range of clothing for men, women and children marketed under its Hanes and JMS/Just My Size brands. Its JMS/Just My Size brand offers casual apparel designed to meet the needs of plus-size women.
Direct to Consumer
The Company's Direct to Consumer operations include its Company-operated outlet stores and Website operations that sell its branded products directly to consumers in the United States. The Company under its Direct to Consumer segment offers products, such as activewear, men's underwear, children's underwear, intimate apparel, socks and hosiery. The Company's outlet stores and Websites are operated under the Hanes, One Hanes Place, JMS/Just My Size, Champion and Maidenform names. It has over 250 outlet stores in the United States.
The Company's International segment includes products from the Innerwear and Activewear segments, such as activewear, men's underwear, children's underwear, intimate apparel, socks and hosiery. It markets the products under various brands, such as DIM, Playtex, Hanes, Champion, Nur Die/Nur Der, Loveable, Wonderbra, Maidenform, Shock Absorber, Abanderado, Zorba, Rinbros, Kendall, Sol y Oro, Lilyette, Polo Ralph Lauren, Fila, Bellinda, Edoo, Track N Field, Ritmo, Donna Karan and DKNY. It markets Innerwear products in Western and Central Europe. It markets intimate apparel products in France, Spain and Italy. It also markets men's underwear in France and Spain, and hosiery in France and Germany. The Company's international markets are Europe, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Australia.
The Company competes with Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Limited Brands, Inc., Jockey International, Inc., Gildan Activewear, Inc., Gap Inc., Triumph International and Calzedonia S.p.A Group.
