HMV Group plc (HMV) is engaged in retailing of pre-recorded music, video, electronic games and related entertainment products under the HMV and Fopp brands and the retailing of books principally under the Waterstone’s brand. The Company operates in seven countries, with the principal markets being the United Kingdom and Canada. HMV operates 408 entertainment stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore offer a range of music, film and games. During the fiscal year ended April 25, 2009, the Company entered into a joint venture with MAMA Group plc, whereby the Company holds 50% interest in Mean Fiddler Group Limited. In September 2009, the Company completed the acquisition of 50% of 7digital Inc. from its venture capital backers, Balderton Capital and Sutton Place Managers.
