Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats) is an integrated platinum group metals (PGM), including platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium and iridium, as well as gold, and associated base metal producer. The Company’s segments include mine-to-market primary PGM producers, including the marketing of metals produced by the group; toll refiner for third party material (Impala Refining Services IRS)), and other. It has operations on the Bushveld Complex in South Africa and the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe. Impala Platinum (Impala) contributes 56% of the Company’s production. IRS's areas of activity includes provision of smelting and refining services through off-take agreements, autocatalyst recycling and other toll-refining. Impala's mining operation includes 14 operating shafts, five of which have underground decline systems, covering an area of 260 square kilometers.
