JetBlue Airways Corporation (JetBlue), incorporated in August 1998, is a passenger airline that provides customer service primarily on point-to-point routes. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company served 52 destinations in 19 states, Puerto Rico, and five countries in the Caribbean and Latin America, and operated over 600 flights a day with a fleet of 107 Airbus A320 aircraft and 35 EMBRAER 190 aircraft. Most of its flights have, as an origin or destination, one of its focus cities: Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles/Long Beach, New York/JFK, or Orlando. During 2008, its operations primarily consisted of transporting passengers on its aircraft, with domestic United States operations, including Puerto Rico, accounting for 92.5% of its capacity. In January 2009, JetBlue began service to Bogota, Colombia.
JetBlue’s West Coast operations are based at Long Beach Municipal Airport, which serves the Los Angeles area. Its operations at Boston’s Logan International Airport are based at Terminal C, where it operates nine gates and 28 ticket counter positions. Its operations at Washington’s Dulles International Airport are based at Terminal B, where it operates four gates and 10 ticket counter positions. As of December 31, 2008, the Company operated international service to The Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Aruba, the Netherlands Antilles and Mexico. In January 2008, it discontinued its services in Nashville and Columbus. In May 2008, the Company discontinued services in Tucson. In September 2008, it discontinued its services in Ontario.
JetBlue’s aircrafts are equipped with leather seats in a single class layout. The Airbus A320 aircraft, with 150 seats, has a wide cabin. The EMBRAER 190 aircraft has 100 seats, arranged in a two-by-two seating configuration with either 32 or 33 inches between rows of seats.
LiveTV, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of JetBlue, provides in-flight entertainment, voice communication and data connectivity services for commercial and general aviation aircraft. LiveTV has contracts with 11 other domestic and international airlines for the sale of certain hardware and installation, programming and maintenance of its live in-seat satellite television, as well as XM Satellite Radio Service and certain other products and services. LiveTV also has general aviation customers to whom it supplies voice and data communication services.
