JetBlue Airways Corporation (JetBlue), incorporated in August 1998, is a passenger airline that operates primarily on point-to-point routes with its fleet of 120 Airbus A320 aircraft and 49 EMBRAER 190 aircraft. As of December 31, 2011, it served 70 destinations in 22 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico and 12 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. Most of JetBlue flights have as an origin or destination New York or one of its other focus cities: Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Orlando or San Juan, Puerto Rico. As of December 31, 2011, the Company operated an average of 700 daily flights. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company acquired eight take-off and landing slots at each of New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Washington D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport. In June 2014, the Company announced that it has completed its sale of its wholly owned subsidiary LiveTV to Thales Group.
The Company’s operations primarily consist of transporting passengers on its aircraft with domestic United States operations, including Puerto Rico, which accounted for 85% of its capacity in 2011. The Company’s aircraft’s inflight entertainment systems include 36 channels of free DirecTV, 100 channels of free XM satellite radio and movie channel offerings from JetBlue Features, its source of first run films. Its onboard offerings also include an assortment of free and unlimited brand name snacks and beverages. Additionally, customers can purchase beverages and food selections and products for overnight flights.
All of the Company’s aircraft are equipped with leather seats in a single class layout. Its Airbus A320 aircraft has 150 seats. The Company’s EMBRAER 190 aircraft each have 100 seats and are arranged in a two-by-two seating configuration. The airports served by the Company include John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK); Newark, NJ’s Liberty International Airport, New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Newburgh, NY’s Stewart International Airport and White Plains, NY’s Westchester County Airport. During 2011, it operated from 17 gates at Boston. The Company sells vacation packages through JetBlue Getaways, its vacation Website designed to meet customers’ demand for self-directed packaged travel planning. Getaways packages offer air travel on JetBlue, and a selection of JetBlue-recommended hotels and resorts and car rentals. It also offers a la carte hotel and car rental reservations through its Website.
