Janus Capital Group Inc., incorporated on January 23, 1998, provides investment management, administration, distribution and related services to financial advisors, individuals and institutional clients through mutual funds, separate accounts, other pooled investment vehicles and subadvised relationships (collectively referred to as investment products) in both domestic and international markets. The Company operates through investment management business segment. The Company provides investment management solutions across a range of disciplines, including fundamental the United States and global equities (growth and value), mathematical equities, fixed income and alternatives, through its subsidiaries, Janus Capital Management LLC (Janus), INTECH Investment Management LLC (INTECH), Perkins Investment Management LLC (Perkins), VS Holdings, Inc. (VelocityShares) and Kapstream Capital Pty Limited (Kapstream).
The Company's investment products are distributed through over three primary channels: intermediary, institutional and self-directed. Each distribution channel focuses on specific investor groups and the requirements of each group. The Company distributes its products through approximately three channels: retail intermediary, institutional and international.
Janus manages primarily growth equity portfolios. Janus has leveraged its research-driven investment philosophy and culture to other areas of the markets, including fundamental and global macro fixed income and diversified alternatives and exchange-traded products (ETPs). Janus manages over $87.4 billion of long-term equity assets, approximately $37.2 billion of fixed income assets and over $1.3 billion of money market assets, or approximately 70% of total Company assets under management.
INTECH manages institutional portfolios. INTECH's investment process is based on a mathematical theorem that seeks to add value for clients by capitalizing on the volatility in stock price movements. INTECH manages over $47.6 billion, or approximately 28% of total Company assets under management.
Perkins manages investment products and focuses on building diversified portfolios. Perkins offers equity investment products across a range of the United States asset classes and global equity. Perkins manages over $8.4 billion, or approximately 4% of total Company assets under management.
VelocityShares is a sponsor of ETPs that are institutionally focused and offers volatility management solutions. VelocityShares has launched a second business around exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for diversified investment portfolios focused on volatility-hedged equities and equal-risk weighted solutions. VelocityShares-branded products have over $3.2 billion in assets.
Kapstream is a macro fixed income asset manager located in Australia. Kapstream manages over $7.2 billion, or approximately 4% of total Company assets under management.
