51job, Inc., incorporated in March 2000, is a holding company. The Company is a provider of integrated human resource services in China. It receives a majority of its revenues in the form of fees from employers for placing job advertisements on 51job Weekly and www.51job.com. The Company also receives fees from employers for accessing its www.51job.com resume database, using its eHire product and engaging its other human resource related services. It provides a range of human resource services in categories, which includes recruitment advertising services, including online recruitment services and print advertising, and other human resource related services, such as business process outsourcing, training and executive search services. As of December 31, 2011, the Company operated print publications across 11 major cities in China.
The Company generates a majority of its revenues from its recruitment advertising services. The Company’s online recruitment services business generated 58.6% of its revenues during the year ended December 31, 2011. Its print advertising business generated 15.2% of its revenues during 2011. Other human resource related services generated 26.2% of its revenues during 2011.
Recruitment Advertising Services
The Company’s online recruitment advertisements appear in both Chinese and English on www.51job.com. These advertisements cover many different job categories ranging from professional and middle management positions to clerical, industrial and hourly jobs. Job seekers may search for positions using keywords or based on a number of criteria, including city of employment, industry, job function, job title and job posting date. It regularly maintains and updates its www.51job.com with job search, training and general career management content.
Employers can use the Company’s eHire Web-based platform to search its job candidate database and download resumes for a fee. In addition, eHire contains other tools that enable employers to manage, organize and streamline the recruitment and hiring process. It also offers Website design as an additional value-added service and marketing tool for corporate customers. It can build customized private label recruitment Websites. It designs these sites in-house to client specifications and operates these sites for its clients. These client sites, together with its www.51job.com Website, are hosted by China Telecom and China Unicom.
The Company coordinates 51job Weekly with its www.51job.com online recruitment Website, and it posts majority of the recruitment advertisements appearing in 51job Weekly on www.51job.com as well. The Company places a basic description of a 51job Weekly recruitment advertisement on its Website as a complimentary service to its customers. 51job Weekly is a city-specific recruitment advertising publication, which is published once a week and is distributed as an insert in local newspapers and/or on a stand-alone basis.
A different version of 51job Weekly is published in each city, with each version containing city-specific recruitment advertisements. The Company coordinates 51job Weekly with its www.51job.com online recruitment Website and post a majority of the recruitment advertisements appearing in 51job Weekly on www.51job.com as well. 51job Weekly contains recruitment advertisements for the range of job categories that are available on its Website, including sections for professional, middle management and technical personnel. Advertisements placed in 51job Weekly are primarily in Chinese language.
51job Weekly recruitment advertisements come in a variety of formats, from large, multi-color advertisements using graphics and corporate trademarks. 51job Weekly is sold at newsstands, kiosks, convenience stores, supermarkets and other venues. It also circulate 51job Weekly independently through its direct marketing campaigns. The Company’s direct marketing includes offering free copies of 51job Weekly at job fairs, in the lobbies of major office buildings, at post offices, on university campuses, outside mass transit stations and in other public areas where the public circulation of newspapers is permitted.
Other Human Resource Related Services
The Company performs business process outsourcing services by managing human resource administrative functions for employers on an outsourced basis. Its services to corporate clients mainly consist of social insurance and welfare payment processing, regulatory compliance with local governmental employment regulations and payroll processing. It conducts training seminars in business management, leadership, sales and marketing, human resource, negotiation skills, financial planning and analysis, public administration, manufacturing, secretarial and other skills. It provides its seminars to the general public and on a customized, in-house basis for corporate clients. It licenses content and materials from third parties for some of the training courses it provide. In addition to classroom-style seminars, it provides outdoor-based training exercises and programs for corporate clients to promote personal development, team building and communication.
The Company provides campus recruitment services to corporations seeking to recruit college and university students. It assists corporations with recruitment strategy, selection of schools, schedule of campus visits, promotion of their image to students and logistical arrangements. It provides its eSearch executive search services to employers seeking to fill mid-level professional, managerial and junior executive positions. It conduct general and customized salary survey studies with analyses of compensation and benefits packages across various cities, industries and job positions. The Company organizes and host annual human resource conferences and events in some of its cities. These conferences and events include lectures, seminars, workshops and networking opportunities for human resource professionals. It provide assessment tools to assist human resource departments in evaluating capabilities and dispositions of job candidates and existing employees, in aiding employee placement and in allocating employee resources. It also performs hiring and support services to employers on select recruitment projects.
