Kinder Morgan, Inc., incorporated on August 23, 2006, is an energy infrastructure company in North America. The Company owns an interest in or operates approximately 84,000 miles of pipelines and over 180 terminals. The Company's segments include Natural Gas Pipelines, carbon dioxide (CO2), Terminals, Products Pipelines, Kinder Morgan Canada and Other. The Company's pipelines transport natural gas, refined petroleum products, crude oil, condensate, CO2 and other products, and its terminals transload and store petroleum products, ethanol and chemicals, and handle products, such as coal, petroleum coke and steel.
Natural Gas Pipelines
The Company's Natural Gas Pipelines segment includes interstate and intrastate pipelines and its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. The Company's primary businesses in this segment consist of natural gas sales, transportation, storage, gathering, processing and treating, and the terminaling of LNG. This segment owns approximately 52,000 miles of natural gas pipelines and owns equity interests in entities that have over 19,000 miles of natural gas pipelines, along with associated storage and supply lines for these transportation networks, which are located throughout the North American natural gas pipeline grid. The Company's transportation network provides access to the natural gas supply areas and consumers in the western United States, Louisiana, Texas, the Midwest, Northeast, Rocky Mountain, Midwest and Southeastern regions. Its LNG storage and regasification terminals also serve natural gas supply areas in the southeast.
The Company's CO2 segment produces, transports and markets CO2 for use in oil recovery projects as a flooding medium for recovering crude oil from mature oil fields. Its CO2 pipelines and related assets enable the Company to market a package of CO2 supply, transportation and technical services to its customers. The Company also holds ownership interests in a range of oil-producing fields and owns a crude oil pipeline, all located in the Permian Basin region of West Texas.
The Company's Terminals segment includes the operations of the Company's petroleum, chemical, ethanol and other liquids terminal facilities (other than those included in the Products Pipelines segment) and all of its coal, petroleum coke, fertilizer, steel, ores and other dry-bulk material services facilities, including all transload, engineering, conveying and other in-plant services. The Company's terminals are located throughout the United States and in portions of Canada. The Company has over 50 Liquids terminals, approximately 60 Bulk terminals and over eight Jones Act qualified tankers. The Company's Jones Act qualified product tankers provide marine transportation of crude oil, condensate and refined products in the United States.
The Company's Products Pipelines segment consists of its refined petroleum products, crude oil and condensate, and natural gas liquids (NGL) pipelines and associated terminals, Southeast terminals, and its transmix processing facilities. This segment's assets include Plantation pipeline, West Coast Products Pipelines (Pacific (SFPP, L.P), Calnev and West Coast Terminals), Cochin pipeline, KM Crude & Condensate pipeline, Central Florida pipeline, Double Eagle pipeline, Parkway, Cypress pipeline, Southeast Terminals and Transmix Operations.
Kinder Morgan Canada
The Company's Kinder Morgan Canada business segment includes the Trans Mountain pipeline system and the Jet Fuel pipeline system. The Trans Mountain pipeline system originates at Edmonton, Alberta and transports crude oil and refined petroleum products to destinations in the interior and on the west coast of British Columbia. The Company also owns and operates a connecting pipeline that delivers crude oil to refineries in the state of Washington. The Jet Fuel pipeline system is a 25-mile aviation fuel pipeline that serves the Vancouver International Airport, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In addition to its receiving and storage facilities located at the Westridge Marine terminal, located in Port Metro Vancouver, the Jet Fuel pipeline system's operations include a terminal at the Vancouver airport that consists of approximately five jet fuel storage tanks with an overall capacity of over 15 one thousand barrels (MBbl).
