The Coca-Cola Company, incorporated on September 5, 1919, is a beverage company. The Company's segments include Europe, Middle East and Africa; Latin America; North America; Asia Pacific; Bottling Investments, and Corporate. The Company markets, manufactures and sells beverage concentrates referred to as beverage bases, and syrups, including fountain syrups (concentrate business or concentrate operations), and finished sparkling and still beverages (finished product business or finished product operations). As of December 31, 2015, the Company owned or licensed and marketed over 500 nonalcoholic beverage brands, primarily sparkling beverages but also a range of still beverages, such as waters, enhanced waters, juices and juice drinks, ready-to-drink teas and coffees, and energy and sports drinks. As of December 31, 2015, the Company owned and marketed a range of non-alcoholic sparkling beverage brands, including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Fanta and Sprite. As of December 31, 2015, the Company's finished beverage products are sold in more than 200 countries. The Company makes its beverage products available to consumers across the world through its network of Company-owned or -controlled bottling and distribution operations, as well as independent bottling partners, distributors, wholesalers and retailers.
The Company owns various non-alcoholic beverage brands, including Coca-Cola, Minute Maid, Aquarius, Bonaqua/Bonaqa, Diet Coke/Coca-Cola Light, Georgia, Minute Maid Pulpy, Gold Peak, Coca-Cola Zero, Powerade, Dasani, FUZE TEA, Fanta, Del Valle, Simply, Glaceau Smartwater, Sprite, Schweppes, Glaceau Vitaminwater and Ice Dew. Georgia is a coffee brand sold mainly in Japan. It manufactures, markets and sells juices and juice drinks under the Del Valle name in Mexico and Brazil through joint ventures with its bottling partners. Schweppes is owned by the Company in certain countries other than the United States. Minute Maid Pulpy is a juice drink brand sold in Asia Pacific. Simply is a juice and juice drink brand sold in North America. Gold Peak is a tea brand sold in North America. FUZE TEA is a brand sold outside of North America. Glaceau Smartwater is a vapor-distilled water with added electrolytes, which is sold mainly in North America and Great Britain. Ice Dew is a water brand sold in China.
The Company and its bottlers distribute certain brands of Monster Beverage Corporation (Monster), primarily Monster Energy, in designated territories in the United States, Canada and other international territories. It produces and/or distributes certain other third-party brands, including brands owned by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (DPSG), which it produces and distributes in designated territories in the United States and Canada. The Company's finished product operations consist of Company-owned or -controlled bottling, sales and distribution operations, including Coca-Cola Refreshments (CCR). Its finished product operations generate net revenues by selling sparkling beverages and a range of still beverages, such as juices and juice drinks, energy and sports drinks, ready-to-drink teas and coffees, and certain water products, to retailers or to distributors, wholesalers and bottling partners distributing them to retailers. In addition, in the United States, the Company manufactures fountain syrups and sells them to fountain retailers, such as restaurants and convenience stores, using the fountain syrups to produce beverages for immediate consumption, or to authorized fountain wholesalers or bottling partners, reselling the fountain syrups to fountain retailers. In the United States, it authorizes wholesalers to resell its fountain syrups through nonexclusive appointments.
The Company competes with PepsiCo, Inc., Nestle S.A., Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc., Groupe Danone, Mondelez International, Inc., Kraft Foods Group, Inc., Suntory Beverage & Food Limited and Unilever.
