Lonmin Plc is a South Africa-based company. The principal activities of the Company during the fiscal year ended September 30, 2008 (fiscal 2008), were mining, refining and marketing of platinum group metals (PGM). All of the Company’s mining operations are located in the Bushveld complex in South Africa. Its Marikana mining operations, on the Western Limb of the Bushveld, contribute around 92% of the Company’s annual production. The Limpopo mine is situated near Polokwane on the Bushveld’s Eastern Limb. At both its operations, Lonmin Plc mines the Upper Group 2 (UG2) and Merensky PGM-bearing reefs.
