LMI Aerospace, Inc. (LMI Aerospace) is a provider of design engineering services, structural assemblies, kits and components to the aerospace, defense and technology markets. The Company operates in two segments: Aerostructures and Engineering Services. The Company provides a range of manufacturing capabilities, as well as engineering and value-added services to the commercial, corporate and regional, and military aircraft markets. It also provide prototyping, testing and design capabilities to customers in support of new product development and in-service aircraft. The Company is a supplier to aircraft original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier I aerospace suppliers. In addition to aerospace products, it produces components and assemblies for laser equipment used by semiconductor equipment manufacturers in the technology industry and ProWall engineered reusable containers for commercial, industrial and military applications. In August 2012, the Company acquired TASS Inc., an after-market engineering and support services firm. On December 28, 2012, the Company acquired Valent Aerostructures, LLC.
The Company’s Aerostructures segment fabricates, machines, finishes, integrates, assembles and kits formed, close tolerance aluminum and specialty alloy components and assemblies for use by the aerospace, defense and technology industries. It manufactures more than 30,000 products for integration into a variety of aircraft platforms manufactured by OEMs and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers, including Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, Spirit AeroSystems, Triumph Group, The Boeing Company, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and Aviation Partners Boeing. The Company’s aerospace products include edge wing slats and flapskins; winglets leading edges and related wing modification kits; fuselage and wing skins; helicopter cabin, aft section and pylon components and assemblies; door surrounds, components, assemblies and floorbeams; thrust reversers and engine nacelles/cowlings; cockpit window frames and landing light lens assemblies; detail interior components; structural sheet metal and extruded components; tailcone assemblies; housings and assemblies for gun turrets, and various components and assemblies.
The Company also offers other services related to the design, production, assembly and distribution of aerospace components and deliver kits of products directly to customer points of use. These services include fabrication, machining, finishing, assembly, kitting, distribution and composites testing services.
The Company’s Engineering Services segment, operated by D3 Technologies, Inc. (D3) provides a range of design, engineering and program management services, supporting aircraft lifecycles from conceptual design, analysis and certification through production support, fleet support and service life extensions via an engineering solution. Its services includes structural design and analysis; systems design and integration, and tool design and fabrication. It provides engineering services to OEMs and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers, including The Boeing Company, Bombardier, Seaport, AMRO Fabricating Corporation and Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation.
