LMI Aerospace, Inc., incorporated on November 1, 1983, is a supplier of structural assemblies, kits and components, and design engineering services to the aerospace and defense markets. The Company operates in two business segments consisting of its Aerostructures segment and its Engineering Services segment. The Company offers an array of manufacturing capabilities, as well as engineering and services to the commercial, corporate and regional, and military aircraft markets. It also provides prototyping, testing and design capabilities to customers in support of product development and in-service aircraft. In addition to aerospace products, the Company produces components and assemblies for laser equipment used by semiconductor equipment manufacturers, electronic and electrical wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and mechanical sub-assemblies for the air and rail traffic control, medical equipment, telecommunications and heavy equipment industries. The Company also offers a range of value-added services, such as finishing; assembly; kitting; distribution; composite testing services; integrated testing services; engineered tool design, fabrication, and repair, and prototyping and manufacturing producibility design.
The Company's finishing plants are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cuba, Missouri, and Mexicali, Mexico, and together offer chemical milling, chemical conversion coating, painting and polishing of components. The Company is engaged in the assembly of detail components into sub-assemblies or finished-assemblies. Its facility in Savannah, Georgia is designed to kit manufactured components and deliver to customer points of use in a just-in-time manner. This location also serves as a warehousing and detail storage facility where finished goods may be stored and kitted to customer specifications upon demand. The Company delivers value-added services to its customers through its distribution center located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This facility is designed with high-density storage systems that support storage and direct shipping of products to its customers' points of use, as well as cut to size programs of raw material for its internal plants. The Company also owns a fleet of paneled trucks that are utilized for transporting product from its machining/fabrication facilities to its processing facilities, to its assembly facilities and then to its customers.
The Company's composites testing organization provides material characterization and certification services for both basic materials, as well as structural elements. Its Composites Technical Center of Excellence integrates engineering expertise in composites development, design, and certification with its composites testing organization to provide turn-key solutions for testing requirements. The Company's tooling organization provides tooling design, technical supervision of contract fabrication and repair services for a range of projects from components, small assembly and drill jigs to determinant assembly tooling and planning. The Company provides prototyping and manufacturing producibility services to commercial, corporate and regional and military aircraft customers. These services include manufacturing and inspection planning, as well as producibility assessments and prototype support.
The Company's Aerostructures segment fabricates, machines, finishes, integrates, assembles and kits machined and formed close tolerance aluminum, specialty alloy and composite components and higher level assemblies for use by the aerospace and defense industries. The Company also offers its customers' services related to the design, production, assembly and distribution of aerospace components and deliver kits of products directly to customer points of use. The Aerostructures segment manufactures approximately 40,000 products for integration into a range of aircraft platforms manufactured by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers. The primary aerospace products the Company manufactures include edge assemblies, wing slats and flap skins/components, ailerons, verticals; Winglet edges and modification kits; Fuselage and wing skin; Helicopter cabin and aft section components and assemblies; Wing panels; Tail cone assemblies; Thrust reversers and engine nacelles/cowlings; Door components, assemblies and floor beams; Cockpit window frames and landing light lens assemblies; Cockpit crew floor and bulkhead structure assemblies; Wheel well assemblies; Detail interior components; Structural sheet metal, machined, milled and extruded components; Housings and assemblies for gun turrets; Auxiliary power unit components; Electronic rack assembly; Fans, heat exchangers and various assemblies, and Assemblies and components for rail yard switching equipment.
Engineering Services segment
The Company's Engineering Services segment provides a range of design, engineering and program management services, supporting aircraft product lifecycles from conceptual design, analysis and certification through production support, fleet support, and service life extensions through an engineering solution to OEMs and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers, and airline operators. Its Engineering Services segment offers engineering services, such as wing/wingbox, fixed and moveable edges/trailing edges, fuselage, empennage, tail cone design; Winglet/wing mod design; Nacelle, engine cowl, thrust reverser design; Weight improvement engineering; Helicopter fuselage, cockpit, cabin frames, skins, longerons, beams; Aircraft modification engineering; Systems design and integration; Tool design and fabrication; After-market engineering and support services; Aviation training system, and Aviation maintenance engineering.
