Alliant Energy Corporation (Alliant Energy), incorporated on April 22, 1981, is a regulated investor-owned public utility holding company. The Company provides regulated electric and natural gas services to its customers in Iowa and Wisconsin. The Company’s business segments are Utility and Non-regulated, Parent and Other. The Utility segment includes the operations of Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) and Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL). The utility business segment includes utility electric operations, utility gas operations and utility other, which includes steam operations and the unallocated portions of the utility business. The Company’s Non-regulated, Parent and Other segment includes the operations of Alliant Energy Resources, LLC (Resources) and its subsidiaries; Alliant Energy Corporate Services, Inc. (Corporate Services); the Alliant Energy parent company, and any Alliant Energy parent company consolidating adjustments.

The Company provides regulated electric and natural gas services to approximately one million electric and approximately 420,000 natural gas customers in the Midwest through its two public utility subsidiaries, IPL and WPL.IPL is a public utility engaged principally in the generation and distribution of electricity and the distribution and transportation of natural gas in selective markets in Iowa and southern Minnesota. WPL is a public utility engaged principally in the generation and distribution of electricity and the distribution and transportation of natural gas in selective markets in southern and central Wisconsin.

Utility

The Company’s Utility segment operates through Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) and Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), both public utility companies providing electricity and natural gas services in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Company’s Utility segment is further classified into three segments: electric operations, gas operations and other, which includes IPL’s steam operations and the unallocated portions of the utility business. IPL is principally engaged in the generation and distribution of electricity and the distribution and transportation of natural gas in Iowa and southern Minnesota. As at December 31, 2014, IPL supplied electric and natural gas service to approximately 529,000 and 235,000 retail customers, respectively. WPL is principally engaged in the generation and distribution of electricity and the distribution and transportation of natural gas in southern and central Wisconsin. As at December 31, 2014, WPL supplied electric and natural gas service to approximately 463,000 and 185,000 retail customers, respectively. IPL and WPL provide electric utility service to a diversified base of retail customers in several industries, with concentrations in the food manufacturing, chemical (including ethanol) and paper industries. IPL and WPL own a portfolio of electric generating units located in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota with a diversified fuel mix, including coal, natural gas and renewable resources.

Electric operations of the Company’s Utility segment are located in the Midwest region of the United States. Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) provides electric service in Iowa and southern Minnesota and and Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL) provides electric service in southern and central Wisconsin.

The Company’s Utility segment has gas operations in the Midwest region of the United States. Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) provides gas service in Iowa and southern Minnesota and Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL) provides gas service in southern and central Wisconsin.

Other operations of the Company’s Utility segment include Interstate Power and Light Company’s (IPL) steam operations. IPL is engaged in the generation and distribution of steam for two customers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. IPL’s Prairie Creek facility is the primary source of steam for IPL’s two high-pressure steam customers.

Non-regulated, Parent and Other

The Company’s Non-regulated, Parent and Other segment operates through Alliant Energy Resources, LLC (Resources) and its subsidiaries; Alliant Energy Corporate Services, Inc. (Corporate Services); the Alliant Energy parent company, and any Alliant Energy parent company consolidating adjustments. Resources’ Resources manages a portfolio of wholly owned subsidiaries and additional investments through the transportation, non-regulated generation and other non-regulated investments platforms. The non-regulated generation platform owns Sheboygan Falls, a 347 megawatt (MW), simple-cycle, natural gas-fired electric generating unit near Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin and the 99 MW Franklin County wind project in Franklin County, Iowa. The transportation platform includes a short-line railway that provides freight service between Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Iowa City, Iowa; a barge terminal and hauling services on the Mississippi River; and other transfer and storage services. The other non-regulated investments platform includes AE Transco Investments, LLC’s (ATI) partial ownership interest in WPL Transco, which holds Alliant Energy’s ownership interest in ATC (American Transmission Company LLC), real estate investments, two corporate airplanes and several other investments. Corporate Services provides administrative services to Alliant Energy, IPL, WPL and Resources.
