Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, incorporated on July 20, 1972, is a manufacturer of building products. The Company's products are used in home construction, repair and remodeling, and outdoor structures. The Company operates in four segments, which include North America Oriented Strand Board (OSB), Siding, Engineered Wood Products (EWP) and South America. Its other products category includes its remaining timber and timberlands, and other minor products, services and closed operations. The Company operates in the United States, Canada, Chile and Brazil. It also markets and sells its products in light industrial and commercial construction. Its customers include wholesale distribution companies, two-step distributors, building materials professional dealers, retail home centers and shed producers.
North America Oriented Strand Board
The OSB segment manufactures and distributes OSB structural panel products. OSB products are made from wood strands arranged in layers and bonded with resin. OSB serves various uses as plywood, including roof decking, sidewall sheathing and floor underlayment.
The Siding segment offers two categories of products, which include SmartSide siding products and related accessories, and CanExel siding and accessories and other related products. Its SmartSide products consist of a line of wood-based sidings, trim, soffit and fascia. Its CanExel siding and accessory product offerings include various pre-finished lap and trim products in a range of patterns and textures. These products are used in construction, repair and remodeling and outdoor structures, such as sheds. Additionally, minor amounts of commodity OSB are produced and sold in this segment.
Engineered Wood Products
The Engineered Wood Products (EWP) segment manufactures and distributes laminated veneer lumber (LVL), I-Joists, laminated strand lumber (LSL) and other related products. This segment also includes the sale of I-Joist. A plywood mill associated with its LVL operations in British Columbia and minor amounts of commodity OSB are also included in this segment. Its engineered I-joists are used in residential and commercial flooring, and roofing systems and other structural applications.
The South American segment manufactures and distributes OSB and siding products in South America and certain export markets. This segment also distributes and sells related products to augment the transition to wood frame construction.
