LLOYDS BANKING GROUP plc, incorporated on October 21, 1985, provides financial services to individual and business customers in the United Kingdom but also overseas. The Company's business activities include retail and commercial banking, long-term savings, protection and investment. The Company offers services through various brands, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, and Scottish Widows, through a range of distribution channels in the United Kingdom and digital proposition. The Company's segments include Retail, Commercial Banking, Consumer Finance and Insurance.
The Company's Retail segment provides banking, mortgages and other financial services. Its range of products includes current accounts, savings and personal loans to the United Kingdom personal customers, such as Wealth and small business customers. It is also a distributor of insurance, protection and credit cards, and a range of long-term savings and investment products.
The Company's Commercial Banking segment provides banking and related services to business clients. Commercial Banking is client-led and is focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), mid markets, global corporate and financial institution clients providing products across lending, transactional banking, working capital management, risk management and debt capital markets services, as well as access to private equity through Lloyds Development Capital.
The Consumer Finance segment consists of its consumer and corporate credit card businesses. Consumer Finance also comprises the Black Horse motor financing and Lex autolease car leasing business in asset finance. The Company's European deposits and Dutch retail mortgage businesses are managed within asset finance.
The Company's Insurance segment provides protection and investment products, as well as general insurance products in the United Kingdom. The Insurance segment focuses on approximately five markets, which include corporate pensions, retirement, bulk annuities and home insurance. The Life, Pensions and Investments business provides long-term savings, retirement solutions and protection products distributed through intermediaries and direct channels of Scottish Widows. The Company's General Insurance business provides home insurance in the United Kingdom, with products sold through the branch network, direct channels and strategic corporate partners. The Company's business also has brokerage operations for personal and commercial insurances.
