Matson, Inc. (Matson), incorporated in 1901, is a United States carrier in the Pacific. The Company’s fleet of 17 ships includes containerships, combination container and roll-on/roll-off vessels and custom-designed barges. It extends the geographic reach of Matson’s transportation network throughout the continental United States. Its integrated, asset-light logistics services include rail intermodal, highway brokerage and warehousing. Matson Logistics, Inc. is a provider of multimodal transportation services to the North American market, including domestic and international rail intermodal service, long haul and regional highway brokerage, supply chain services and less then truck (LTL) transportation services. On June 29, 2012, the Company separated its land and transportation businesses into two companies. The land business will operate under the name Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (A&B) and the transportation business will operate under the name Matson, Inc.
Matson's Pacific services are enhanced by the transportation network of the Company's subsidiary, Matson Logistics, Inc. The Company operates in ocean services and logistics. In June 2012, the Company acquired Second Development Site and Two Office Buildings at Gateway at Mililani Mauka. On June 6, 2012, it completed the merger of A&B Merger Corporation, a Hawaii corporation (Merger Sub) with and into Alexander & Baldwin, Inc., a Hawaii corporation (A&B), with A&B surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company.
The Company operates its ocean services in Guam & Micronesia Services, Hawaii and China. Its diversified fleet features four newly-built containerships, as well as combination container and roll-on, roll-off vessels and specially designed container barges. Matson's ships and assets are United States-built, United States -crewed and United States -operated, which provide an integrated trade lanes of the Company's operations. Matson has expanded its reach in the Pacific to include expedited Transpacific services from China to California.
Matson schedules extend to the ports of Hawaii's Neighbor Islands, Kahului, Maui; Nawiliwili, Kauai, and Hilo and Kawaihae on the Big Island of Hawaii. Its service is also available to the islands of Molokai and Lanai. Matson offers a Virtual Customer Support Center online allowing customers to utilize technology to book, track and handle their shipment information needs. In addition to its ocean transportation services, Matson is equipped to handle inland transportation moves needed to deliver clients freight to any of its West Coast port facilities. In addition to its ocean transportation and customer support features, its offerings include specialized container equipment and electronic data interchange (EDI). Hawaii’s equipments include dry containers, temperature controlled containers-refrigerated and open equipment. Matson offers a range of intermodal services. The Company’s intermodal services include a bill for clients entire move, including ocean, rail, and truck transportation; arrangement and coordination of the ocean, rail, and truck components of clients move, including delivery of empty containers to clients loading location and delivery of clients containers to clients unloading destination; a variety of equipment sizes and specialized equipment, and shipment tracking and reporting systems and electronic commerce.
The Company carries materials to and from the Islands, which includes construction materials, entertainment productions, tourist submarines, observatory mirrors, trolley cars, recreational vehicles (RVs), campers, trailers, forklifts, heavy machinery, buses and boats. It is engaged in the handling of refrigerated cargo being shipped to the Pacific Islands. The Company offers transportation solutions, inventory management, systems integration, cargo tracking, consultation, distribution, break bulk cargo services and construction logistics. In Guam it provides services, such as Guam Military Buildup, equipment, intermodal services, oversized cargo, refrigerated services, special projects and vessel schedules. In China it provides equipment, intermodal services, guaranteed expedited service and interactive vessel schedule.
Matson Logistics is a provider of multimodal transportation, warehousing, and distribution services throughout North America. Its services include domestic rail intermodal service; international rail intermodal service; long haul and regional highway truckload service; LTL transportation; specialized hauling, flatbed and project work; transloading, cross-dock services, and value-added packaging services, and network analysis and freight management services. Matson Logistics provides a network of supply chain transportation solutions to its customers through an offering of multimodal transportation options. The Company’s transportation services include highway services; intermodal services; rate and service request; credit application and information request. Its domestic Intermodal Services offers containers, including high-cube containers; its agreements with all North American railroads and other service providers offer the capacity, rates and routes to meet clients service requirements in every lane, and its contracts with a select group of drayage providers.
Matson Logistics is a provider of Third Party International intermodal services, handling more than 100,000 containers annually. It offers the same menu of services and capabilities tailored for non vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC's), freight forwarders, custom house brokers, beneficial owners and intermodal service providers. Its services include container repositioning and on-dock capabilities. In addition to on-dock services, it provides transportation for refrigerated, hazardous, overweight and over-dimensional freight.
Matson Logistics offers a suite of integrated supply chain services, from engineered contract warehouse solutions to short-term seasonal pop up capacity.
