Etablissements Maurel et Prom SA is a France-based company engaged in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons (oil and gas) and in drilling activities. Its main activities comprise geological surveys, seismic acquisition and processing, geophysical interpretation and drilling. The drilling activities are carried out by Caroil SAS, a subsidiary engaged in the land drilling industry. In 2008, the Company focused its exploration activities on the following countries: Gabon, Colombia, Tanzania, Congo, France, Italy, Peru, Syria and Senegal. Its production and development activities are concentrated in Colombia, Venezuela, Gabon, Cuba and Congo. As of December 31, 2008, Etablissements Maurel et Prom SA had a number of subsidiaries, including Caroil SAS, Maurel & Prom Congo SA, Maurel & Prom Gabon Ltd, M&P Etekamba SA and M&P Nyanga Mayombe SA, among others.
