The Chemicals business sector offers a range of specialty chemicals for various technology applications, and operates through the Liquid Crystals division, which is engaged in the development and production of liquid crystals (LC), and the Performance and Life Science Chemicals division that specializes in the expertise in application technology, quality assurance and approval processes. In 2008, the Company acquired Bio-Fyt, a Belgian company. Merck KGaA is represented in 61 countries worldwide.
