MasTec, Inc., incorporated on April 8, 1998, is an infrastructure construction company operating mainly throughout North America across a range of industries. The Company’s activities include, but are not limited to, the engineering, building, installation, maintenance and upgrade of energy, utility and communications infrastructure, including electrical utility transmission and distribution, power generation, natural gas and petroleum pipeline infrastructure, wireless, wireline and satellite communications, wind farms, solar farms and other renewable energy, industrial infrastructure and water and sewer systems. Its customers are primarily in the utility, communications and government industries. in December 2012, the Company acquired Bottom Line Services, LLC (BLS) and Go Green Services, LLC (Go Green), two natural gas and petroleum pipeline infrastructure construction companies, in separate transactions. Again on the same date the Company acquired Dynamic Tower Services, Inc. (Dynamic). In May 2013, MasTec Inc acquired the entire share capital of Big Country Energy Services LP. In June 2014, the Company acquired Pacer Construction Holdings Corporation.
The Company’s customers include some of the communications and utility companies in the United States. During the year ended December 31, 2012, its top ten customers were AT&T, DIRECTV, Mid-American Energy, Energy Transfer Company, Duke Energy, DCP Midstream, Dominion Virginia Power, Enbridge, Inc., Chesapeake Midstream Partners LP and enXco. The Company’s core services are the engineering, building, installing, maintaining and upgrading of infrastructure for communications, power generation and utility customers. It provides similar services to each of these customers, including build, install, and maintain and upgrade.
The Company builds infrastructure projects for customers across a range of industries. It specializes in building natural gas, crude oil and refined product transport pipelines; underground and overhead distribution systems, including trenches, conduits, cable and power lines, which provide wireless and wireline communications; electrical power generation, transmission and distribution systems; renewable energy infrastructure, including wind and solar farms, and compressor and pump stations and treatment plants and heavy industrial plants. The Company installs buried and aerial fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, copper lines, electrical and other energy distribution systems, transmission systems and satellite dishes in a variety of environments for its customers. In connection with its installation work, it deploys and manages network connections that involve its customers’ hardware, software and network equipment.
The Company offers 24 hours a day, seven days a week maintenance and upgrade support to its customers. The Company’s service offerings include the maintenance of its customers’ distribution facilities, networks and infrastructure, including natural gas and petroleum pipeline, wireless and electrical distribution and transmission infrastructure. It also provides emergency services for accidents or storm damage. The Company’s upgrade work ranges from routine replacements and upgrades to overhauls.
