Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.-Petrobras (Petrobras), incorporated on October 3, 1953, is an energy company. The Company, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in prospecting, drilling, refining, processing, trading and transporting crude oil from producing onshore and offshore oil fields and from shale or other rocks, as well as oil products, natural gas and other liquid hydrocarbons. The Company operates in five segments: Exploration and Production (E&P); Refining, Transportation and Marketing (RT&M); Gas and Power; Biofuels, and Distribution. The Company carries out energy related activities, such as research, development, production, transport, distribution and trading of various forms of energy, as well as other related or similar activities.

Exploration and Production

The Company's E&P segment covers the activities of exploration, development and production of crude oil, natural gas liquid (NGL) and natural gas in Brazil for the purpose of supplying, primarily, its domestic refineries, and also selling the crude oil surplus and oil products produced in the natural gas processing plants to the domestic and foreign markets. The E&P segment also operates through partnerships with other companies. It has approximately 43 evaluation plans underway, including approximately 40 in exploratory areas and over three in ring fence areas. It has exploration partnerships with approximately 20 foreign and domestic companies, on over 70 exploratory agreements, in approximately 40, of which it is the operator. It has over 20 onshore and approximately 50 offshore rig platforms in its fleet, of which approximately 30 units operated in ultra-deep waters in Brazil. Its oil and gas production across the world averaged approximately 2,580 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (mboe/d).

Refining, Transportation and Marketing

The Company's RT&M segment covers the refining, logistics, transport and trading of crude oil and oil products activities, exporting of ethanol, extraction and processing of shale, as well as holding interests in petrochemical companies in Brazil. The Company has over 10 refineries in Brazil with a total net crude distillation capacity of over 2,180 thousand barrels per day (mbbl/d). It has a low sulfur diesel production of approximately 200 mbbl/d. It has total domestic sales volumes for oil products of approximately 2,230 mbbl/d. It operates an infrastructure of pipelines, terminals and a shipping fleet to transport oil products and crude oil to domestic and export markets. Its refineries are located near its crude oil pipelines, storage facilities, refined product pipelines and petrochemical facilities.

Gas and Power

The Gas and Power segment covers the activities of transportation and trading of natural gas produced in Brazil and imported natural gas, transportation and trading of liquid natural gas (LNG), generation and trading of electricity, as well as holding interests in transporters and distributors of natural gas and in thermoelectric power plants in Brazil, in addition to being responsible for the fertilizer business. Its Gas and Power segment consists of gas transmission and distribution, LNG regasification, the manufacture of nitrogen-based fertilizers, gas-fired and flex-fuel power generation, and power generation from renewable sources, including solar and wind sources. Its volume of natural gas sales to industrial, gas-fired electric power generation, commercial and retail customers is over 68.6 million cubic meters per day (mmm3/d). It owns and operates over three LNG terminals using approximately three Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) in Guanabara Bay (State of Rio de Janeiro) with a send-out capacity of over 700 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d), in Pecem (State of Ceara) in Northeastern Brazil with a send-out capacity of over 250 mmcf/d and in the Todos os Santos Bay (State of Bahia), with a send-out capacity of over 490 mmcf/d.

The Company also owns and operates over four natural gas processing facilities, two in Sul Capixaba and Cacimbas, located in the State of Espirito Santo, with a capacity to process over 2.5 mmm3/d and approximately 20 mmm3/d of natural gas, respectively, and are designated to process natural gas from the Campos Basin. Caraguatatuba plant, located in the State of Sao Paulo, has the capacity to process approximately 20 mmm3/d of natural gas, and is designated to process natural gas from the Santos Basin post-salt and pre-salt areas. The TECAB plant, located in State of Rio de Janeiro, has the capacity to process over 20 mmm3/d of natural gas from the Campos Basin and the Santos Basin pre-salt.

Biofuels

The Company's Biofuels segment covers the activities of production of biodiesel and its co-products, as well as the ethanol-related activities. Its ethanol-related activities include equity investments, production and trading of ethanol, sugar and the surplus electric power generated from sugarcane bagasse. Biofuels include ethanol and biodiesel.

Distribution

The Distribution segment of the Company includes the activities of its subsidiary Petrobras Distribuidora S.A. Petrobras Distribuidora S.A. operates through its own retail network and wholesale channels to sell oil products, ethanol and vehicle natural gas in Brazil to retail, commercial and industrial customers, as well as other fuel wholesalers. This segment also includes distribution of oil products operations abroad (South America).
