Pacific Ethanol, Inc., incorporated on February 28, 2005, is a producer and marketer of low-carbon renewable fuels in the United States. The Company's segments include a production segment and a marketing segment. The Company owns and operates over eight ethanol production facilities. Approximately four of its plants are in the Western states of California, Oregon and Idaho, or the Pacific Ethanol West plants, and over four of its plants are located in the Midwestern states of Illinois and Nebraska, or the Pacific Ethanol Central plants. Its plants have a combined ethanol production capacity of over 515 million gallons per year.
The Company's Pacific Ethanol West plants are located on the West Coast and Pacific Ethanol Central plants are located in the Midwest in the heart of the Corn Belt. The Company's ethanol co-products that it produces include wet distillers grains, (WDG), dry distillers grains with soluble (DDGS), wet and dry corn gluten feed, condensed distillers solubles, corn gluten meal, corn germ, corn oil, distillers yeast and carbon dioxide (CO2).
The Company markets ethanol and co-products produced by its over eight ethanol production facilities and markets ethanol produced by third parties. It has customer relationships throughout the Western and Midwestern United States. It markets distiller's grains and other feed co-products to dairies and feedlots, in various cases located near its ethanol plants. These customers use its feed co-products for livestock as a substitute for corn and other sources of starch and protein. The Company sells its corn oil to poultry and biodiesel customers. The Company markets and sells through its subsidiary, Kinergy Marketing LLC (Kinergy), all of the ethanol produced by its production facilities.
The Company competes with Archer Daniels Midland Company and Valero Energy Corporation.
