Satcon Technology Corporation (Satcon) is a clean energy technology provider of utility-grade power conversion solutions for the renewable energy market, primarily the large-scale commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) markets. The Company designs and deliver advanced power conversion solutions that enable producers of renewable energy to convert clean energy into grid-connected, efficient and reliable electrical power. The Company also offers system design services and solutions for management, monitoring, and performance measurement. The Company produces a range of products to provide the critical bridge between clean energy sources and large-scale power grids. In October 2012, the Company announced that the Company and its subsidiaries have filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
The Company's core solutions for renewable energy consist of utility-grade inverters for solar PV applications. Inverters convert the direct current (DC) power generated by these renewable energy sources into useable alternating current (AC) power. They provide the interface with the electric utility grid, an energy storage device, and end user applications. The Company's Renewable Energy Solutions product family includes PowerGate Plus, which is a utility-ready PV inverter with over 1.7 gigawatts, which maximizes system uptime and power production; Equinox, which is a next generation power conversion solution; Prism, which is an integrated one megawatt (MW) medium voltage solution optimized for large-scale commercial and utility-scale PV installations; Solstice, which is a complete power harvesting and array management solution for large-scale commercial and utility-scale solar PV plants; Energy Equity Protection, which is a range of lifecycle management services designed to help customers ensure that their system delivers optimum performance across its entire 20 plus years life span, and Other Legacy Power Products includes static transfer switches, static voltage regulators, frequency converters and AC arc furnace line controllers from five kilowatts to 100 megawatts.
The Company competes with Advanced Energy Industries, PowerOne, Schneider Electric, Siemens, SMA Solar Technology and Sungrow Power Supply.
