Profile: Storage Computer Corp (SOSO.PK)
Storage Computer Corporation (SCC), incorporated in 1991, is a provider of storage software solutions focused on developing advanced storage architectures to address the emerging needs of high-bandwidth and other performance-impaired applications. Its technology supports a variety of applications, including database activities, wide area network storage and business continuity topologies, such as networked attached storage, storage area networks, direct attached storage and storage wide area networking. The Company's products are CyberNAS, Storage Computer Cyber Ultra and Storage Computer CyberFibre.
The CyberNAS is a network attached storage software package, which is modular and scalable, and can be targeted to a range of end users. The product combines a disk-storage subsystem, redundant array of independent disks (RAID) implementation and file server all in one. The file system supports the Microsoft Windows environment, Unix and AppleShare. The CyberNAS also has a set of connectivity options, including Ethernet and gigabit Ethernet, with wire speed and OC12/48 with optical carrier.
CyberVSA Storage Operating System (CyberVSA) provides virtual solid state disk capability. It was ported from hardware to open systems hardware and renamed CyberVSA Storage Operating System to reflect its open systems capabilities. The CyberVSA's central intelligence and storage management software can manage a network of intelligent heterogeneous server and storage devices to enable real-time optimization of storage operations. This capability, combined with the ability to logically distribute data streams across any number or combination of physical disks, creates optimal efficiency while enabling the attainable performance in an enterprise storage environment. This product is sold as software and integrated hardware/software solutions through partners. The CyberVSA offers a range of storage solutions, including virtualization, high-performance throughput, dynamic storage growth, extensive storage resource management and more. The CyberVSA is architected to accommodate all existing storage interconnectivity standards, thus allowing it to function within existing data center structures.
Storage Computer Cyber Ultra
The Cyber Ultra Series is designed for low- to mid-tier storage hardware applications. The unit delivers multi-channel 160-megabit-per-second, Ultra160 Small Computer System Interface (SCSI)-3 throughput to both host and devices with an option for two dual-loop fiber to the host channels. This is offered in a range of capacity configurations featuring an array management of tools and intelligent, backplane, single-connector attachment cabinetry designed to provide enhanced data reliability and configuration flexibility. The system is compatible with older SCSI technology and is ready to take advantage of an upgrade to Fiber Channel technology at the host level. The Cyber Ultra is configurable from 72 gigabits to 16 terabytes with half height of 18 gigabits, 36 gigabits, 73 gigabits and 147 gigabits, and 15,000 revolutions per minute with Ultra160 SCSI-3 drives. The Ultra is scalable to multi-terabyte capacities. Storage Computer Cyber Ultra is a Legacy Product that is available by customer order only.
Storage Computer CyberFibre
The CyberFibre is a storage area network-ready hardware solution entailing host connections and flexibility to adapt to the taxable storage applications. The system supports online dynamic addition of disk capacity to existing RAID sets, with support for 18 gigabits, 36 gigabits, 73 gigabits, 147 gigabits, and greater than 10,000 and 15,000 revolutions per minute drive configurations, as well as up to 512 megabit of cache per controller. The Storage Computer CyberFibre scales to 120 disk drives on a single controller. The systems are scalable to multi-terabyte configurations. The rackmount cabinets feature environmental monitoring and alert systems, with redundant hot-swappable power supplies and cooling fans. Using 15,000 revolutions per minute fiber drives, systems can be initially configured with as few as five disk drives and expanded to 120 disk drives on a single controller as capacity requirements grow. The remote access capability allows system setup, diagnostics and maintenance procedures to be performed from remote locations. An interactive host-based graphical user interface (GUI) provides local monitoring and control of system performance. The user-selectable remote notification mechanisms include e-mail, pagers and text files to alert designated personnel of system changes. The simple network management protocol-based remote monitoring and control of system operations is optional. Storage Computer CyberFibre is also a Legacy Product that is available by customer order only.
SCC competes with EMC Corporation, IBM Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, NCR Corporation, Storage Technology and Sun Microsystems.
