Soupman, Inc., incorporated on December 22, 2010, is a manufacturer and seller of soups to grocery chains, the New York City Public School System and other outlets and to its franchised restaurants under the brand name, The Original Soupman. The Company's soups are packaged in Tetra Recart shelf stable cartons and are sold in the canned soup aisle of grocery stores. The Company also sells the Original Soupman soups in bulk eight pounds frozen heat 'n serve pouches to its franchised and licensed restaurants. The products include vegetarian items, such as Mexicali Beans, Stewed Pinto Beans and Curried Chick Peas with Tomatillos.
The Company sells its soups in two venues and packages. In the grocery segment, the Company sells its soups in the Tetra Recart shelf stable cartons that enables its soups to be displayed in the soup aisles of grocery stores along-side Campbell's and Progresso. In the food service segment, the Company sells its soups in eight pounds frozen boilable pouches to its franchised restaurants, licensed customers and New York City public school system. The Company markets the Tetra Recart carton soups. The Company's subsidiary The Original Soupman Inc. markets its Original Soupman bulk soups and Kiosk Concepts, Inc., an 80% owned subsidiary, conducts the Company's franchising operations, which collect franchise fees and royalties.
The Company's Original Soupman product line consists of all of Al Yeganeh's soups, which has 40 different types. Its line of over 40 varieties of 'Original Soupman' soups are sold directly to consumers in Original Soupman restaurants by franchisees, to whom the Company sells the bulk soups. As of December 31, 2014, the Company had 10 franchise locations (which include five co-branded locations).
The Company competes with Heinz, Campbell, Kettle Cuisine, Blount, Pacific, Hain Food Group, Wolfgang Puck, Progresso, Hale & Hearty, Panera Bread, Souper Salad and Zoup.
