PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk. (TELKOM), incorporated on September 24, 1991, is a telecommunication and network services provider in Indonesia. The Company provides a portfolio of information and communication services, including fixed wireline and fixed wireless telephone, mobile cellular, data and Internet, and network and interconnection services, directly or through its subsidiaries. The Company has four segments: fixed wireline, fixed wireless, cellular and others. The fixed wireline segment provides local, domestic long-distance and international telephone services, and other telecommunications services (including leased lines, telex, transponder, satellite and very small aperture terminal (VSAT)), as well as ancillary services. TELKOM’s fixed wireless segment provides local and domestic long-distance code division multiple access (CDMA)-based telephone services, as well as other telecommunication services using limited-mobility wireless handsets within a local area code. Its cellular segment provides basic telecommunication services, particularly mobile cellular telecommunication services.
Fixed Wireline Services
TELKOM’s fixed wireline subscribers pay one-time installation charges, ongoing monthly subscription charges and usage charges for local, domestic long distance (DLD) and international direct dialing (IDD) services. In addition, its subscribers are provided with a number of features, such as voicemail and information services and billing and directory assistance.
Fixed Wireless Services
The Company's CDMA-based fixed wireless phone service TELKOMFlexi offers limited mobility (within a local area code) for both fixed and portable handsets. TELKOMFlexi subscribers can choose between postpaid and prepaid services. TELKOMFlexi provides features, including short messaging service (SMS), wireless application protocol (WAP), unlimited Internet access, a Web portal, ring tones and voicemail, as well as information services, such as billing, directory assistance and other content services. In July 2009, the Company launched FlexiNet Unlimited. In September 2009, the Company launched a handset called FlexiMuslim. FlexiMuslim provides Islamic-related applications Quran and access to Islamic-related content, such as ability to read the Quran, determine the direction of Mecca and prayer reminders.
TELKOM provides mobile cellular services through its 65% owned subsidiary PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel). Telkomsel provides global system for mobile communications (GSM) and third generation (3G) cellular services in Indonesia through its own network and internationally through networks operated by 380 international roaming partners in 197 countries as of the end of 2009.
