Unilever N.V. is one of the parent companies of the Unilever Group (Unilever), which is a supplier of consumer goods across foods, and home and personal product categories. Unilever PLC is the other parent company of Unilever. Unilever’s operations are organized into two divisions: Foods, and Home and Personal Care. Unilever serves as a food company that meets everyday needs of people, through branded products. In September 2008, the Company announced the completion of the sale of its North American laundry business in United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to Vestar Capital Partners. In December 2008, it completed the sale of its edible oil business in Cote d’Ivoire together with its interests in local oil palm plantations, Palmci and PHCI, to SIFCA and to a 50:50 joint venture between two Singapore-based companies, Wilmar International Limited and Olam International Limited. In September 2009, it completed the sale of the palm oil plantation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
