Visualant, Incorporated, incorporated on October 8, 1998, focuses primarily on the development of ChromaID, which is a technology that identifies and authenticates any substance. The Company's ChromaID utilizes light at the photon (elementary particle of light) level through a series of emitters and detectors to generate a signature or fingerprint from a scan of any solid, liquid or gaseous material. This signature of reflected or transmitted light is digitized, creating a ChromaID signature. Each ChromaID signature consists of from hundreds to thousands of specific data points. In normal operation, a ChromaID master or reference scan is generated and stored in a database. The scan head can then scan similar materials to identify, authenticate or diagnose them by comparing the new ChromaID digital signature scan to that of the original or reference ChromaID signature or scan result. The ChromaID technology provides a platform, upon which a range of applications can be developed. The Company is in the process of commercializing its ChromaID technology.
The ChromaID technology can differentiate and identify different brands of clear vodkas that appear identical to the human eye. It can provide real time detection of liquid medicines, such as morphine that have been adulterated or compromised. It can detect if jet fuel has water contamination present. It could determine when it is time to change oil in a deep fat fryer. The ChromaID technology includes a range applications, such as milk identification for quality, protein and fat content and impurities; identification of liquids for counterfeits or contaminants; detecting adulterants in food and food products compromising its quality; color grading of diamonds; identifying real cosmetics versus counterfeit cosmetics; identifying counterfeit medications versus real medications; identifying regular flour versus gluten free flour, and authenticating secure identification cards.
The Company's product, the ChromaID Lab Kit, scans and identifies solid surfaces. The ChromaID Lab Kit's target markets include commercial paint manufacturers, pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers, process control companies, currency paper and ink manufacturers, security cards, cosmetic companies, scanner manufactures and food processing companies. Its product, the ChromaID Liquid Lab Kit, scans and identifies liquids. The ChromaID Liquid Lab Kit is in prototype form. The ChromaID Liquid Lab Kit's target markets include water companies, petrochemical companies, pharmaceutical companies and various consumer applications. The Company's Lab Kit includes ChromaID Scanner, ChromaID Lab Software and Software Development Toolkit.
