Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (WALMEX) is Mexican retail chain operator. Its business is structured in seven divisions: Discount Warehouses and Discount Stores, offering basic merchandise, food and household items at discount prices under the Bodega Aurrera, Despensa Familiar, Maxi Bodega and Pali formats; Hypermarkets, operating under the Walmart, Hiper Mas and Hiper Paiz brands; Clubs, focused on the management of a network of membership warehouse clubs under the Sam’s Club and ClubCo names; Supermarkets, comprising the Superama, Mas x Menos, La Union, Paiz and La Despensa de Don Juan supermarkets; Apparel, marketing apparel and accessories for women, men and children through a network of stores, which operate under the Suburbia name; Restaurants, including the Vips and El Porton restaurant chains, and Bank, operating through Banco Walmart, an universal banking institution. As of December 31, 2010, it had 2,279 retail units established in 384 cities in North and Central America.
WALMEX holds a 99.99% interest in a number of companies, including Nueva WalMart, which is engaged in operation of 684 Bodega Aurrera discount stores, 169 Walmart hypermarkets, 98 Sam’s Club membership self-service wholesale stores and 69 Superama supermarkets; Suburbia, which is engaged in operation of 86 Suburbia stores with apparel and accessories for the entire family; Vips, which is engaged in operation of 266 Vips restaurants serving international cuisine, 93 El Porton restaurants serving Mexican food and seven Ragazzi restaurants specializing in Italian food; Comercializadora Mexico Americana, which is engaged in import of goods for sale; real estate, which is engaged in real estate developments and management of real estate companies; Services companies, which is engaged in rendering of professional services to companies, not-for-profit services to the community, and Walmart Bank, which is engaged in operation of 190 bank branches.
