ANSYS, Inc.' Software Verifies Design Of Wimbledon Retractable Roof
ANSYS, Inc. announced that its software was used to verify parts of the design of the new retractable roof over Centre Court at Wimbledon. The U.K.-based engineering firm Advanced Computational Analysis (ACA) used software from ANSYS to conduct both static and dynamic analyses of the roof to ensure that it would perform properly under real-world loads and stresses. The roof operated as designed at its debut at the Championships tennis event, held this summer at London`s All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. ACA used software from ANSYS to conduct both static and dynamic 3-D analyses of the roof trusses in a virtual environment, confirming that they could withstand real-world physical loads and mechanical stresses in both moving and at-rest positions.
VSE Tunes Up Flowmeters Virtually with ANSYS, Inc.'s ANSYS Engineering Simulation Software
ANSYS, Inc. announced that German flowmeter manufacturer VSE Volumentechnik GmbH uses tools from ANSYS to improve the performance of its industrial flowmeters. Fluid dynamics analysis enabled the company to virtually identify and troubleshoot specific noise, vibration and pressure loss problems, resulting in the elimination of excessive gear wear and worker discomfort. VSE`s flowmeters are used to measure critical fluid flows in a wide range of applications, from pharmaceutical processing to power generation to automotive manufacturing.
University of Waterloo Formula Motorsports Team Announce Use Of ANSYS, Inc.'s ANSYS Engineering Simulation Software
ANSYS, Inc. announced that the University of Waterloo Formula Motorsports team leveraged software from ANSYS in developing an air intake restrictor for a race car engine. The student team used a design of experiments procedure within ANSYS software to identify the best design candidates without building a prototype.
