Brooks Automation, Inc. announced that it expects to report revenues for the fourth quarter of 2009 of approximately $64 million, a sequential quarterly increase of about 45%. At the time of the Company's third quarter earnings release, Brooks said it expected sequential revenue growth of at least 25% for the fourth quarter. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts on an average were expecting the Company to report revenue of $53 million for the fourth quarter of 2009.

Brooks Automation, Inc. announced a new radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader specifically for the solar cell industry. The HF80 Series developed by RFID specialist Brooks Automation offers a variety of functions and is obtainable with an Ethernet and/or serial RS232 interface. The system consists of an RFID reader, antenna and transponder.
Brooks Automation, Inc. Announces Restructuring Actions
Brooks Automation, Inc. announced that it is in the process of restructuring its operations to enhance performance and improve operating results. The Company said it is aggressively moving to lower its cash breakeven level while continuing to make strategic product and market development investments to strengthen its position as a leading supplier of automation, vacuum and instrumentation solutions. The Company also announced that it will be combining its formerly separate vacuum pump and robotic product groups into a single Critical Solutions Group. This move will simplify the Company's organizational structure, reduce facility and overhead requirements and more effectively leverage the overall capabilities of the two Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based groups. In the quarter ended December 31, 2008, the Company reduced headcount by about 10% in response to deteriorating conditions in the semiconductor capital equipment industry. Subsequent to that date the Company expects to eliminate approximately 350 additional positions which will reduce the global workforce by about a further 20%.
