InterDigital, Inc. Issues Q4 2009 Revenue Guidance Below Analysts' Estimates
InterDigital, Inc. announced that for fourth quarter of 2009, it expects revenue to be in the range of $75.0-$76.0 million. Reuters reported that InterDigital, Inc. said it may appeal a ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) that Nokia Oyj did not infringe on the wireless technology firm's patents. On October 16, the administrative law judge hearing the case found InterDigital's patents valid and enforceable, but also determined that they were not infringed by Nokia's 3G products.
InterDigital, Inc. Receives Notice From Commission Finding No Violation of Section 337 in ITC Patent Infringement Action against Nokia Corporation
InterDigital, Inc. announced that, in the U.S. International Trade Commission (Commission) investigation initiated by InterDigital against Nokia Corporation, the Commission issued a notice that it reviewed in part the Initial Determination (ID) by the Chief Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) and found no violation of Section 337 and has terminated the investigation. In the ID, the ALJ found InterDigital`s patents valid and enforceable, but also determined that the patents were not infringed by Nokia`s 3G products. The ITC action originated in August 2007, when InterDigital filed a complaint with the ITC alleging that Nokia engaged in unfair trade practices by selling for importation into the United States, importing, and selling after importation, certain 3G handsets and components that infringe four of InterDigital's U.S. patents.
InterDigital, Inc. Signs Pantech To Worldwide Patent License Agreement Covering 2G, 3G and LTE Standards; Acquires Minority Equity Interest in Pantech
InterDigital, Inc. announced that its patent holding subsidiaries have entered into a worldwide patent licensing agreement with Pantech Co., Ltd. and Pantech & Curitel Communications, Inc. (Pantech). In addition, InterDigital will acquire a minority equity interest in Pantech. Under the terms of the patent license agreement, which covers sales through the end of 2016, InterDigital has agreed to grant Pantech and its related companies a worldwide, non transferable, non exclusive, royalty bearing license covering Pantech under 2G, 3G, LTE, LTE Advanced, WiMax, WiBro, and certain other current and developing 3GPP standards. The aggregate license fees and any other royalties resulting from the agreement are payable in installments over the life of the agreement. Additionally, InterDigital will acquire a minority stake in Pantech with no participation at the board level or in the management of the companies.

InterDigital, Inc. announced that its patent holding subsidiaries have entered into a worldwide, non-transferable, non-exclusive, royalty-bearing patent license agreement with Cinterion Wireless Modules GmbH (Cinterion). The agreement covers the sale of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) modules and PC Cards compliant with 2G and 3G cellular standards, for the period January 1, 2009 through the end of 2012.
